WASHINGTON -- Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Tuesday night that Republicans may have to hold their noses and unify behind Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) for president if they want to save their party from Donald Trump.
"Ted Cruz is not my favorite by any means," Graham said in a CBS interview. "But we may be in a position where we have to rally around Ted Cruz as the only way to stop Donald Trump."
Graham, who not too long ago was running against Cruz and Trump for the GOP presidential nomination, said it's still a long shot that Cruz could beat Trump. And the Texas senator isn't exactly the most likable Republican in town.
"Short of a major scandal, probably not," said Graham of Cruz' chances. "And if Marco [Rubio] doesn't win Florida, I don't know how he goes forward."
But Cruz has one thing going for him: He's the only candidate who's picked up multiple wins in state primaries besides Trump. As of late Tuesday, Trump had won a total of nine primaries and Cruz had won three. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), the next runner-up in the polls, just won his first state, Minnesota.

For what? Eight months he’s a patriot? With no record you take the lifelong liberal Democrat hustler at his WORD? Got a lot of naive blind faith there, oh true believer.
Cruz has “only” a 97% Conservative Review Liberty Score so sure he ain’t perfect.
But at least HIS record is 97% conservative while Duh Donald is endorsed by David Duke and Harry Reid.
Again you are using your interpretation of what you see. Many of us disagree with you. We have that right as do you. Your opinion reflects only what you and those who agree with you think. The same is true of Trump supporters.
Tearing each other apart isn’t changing opinions. We will all have to deal with the results of our votes. I am old and remember a much different America. We were Americans first not globalists. I wish I could give a little of that to my grandchildren. Regardless of who is elected I fear that will never really happen.
You do recall Cruz has also praised Obama on occasion. Check it out.
if you collect turds, she's one to have.
It’s gratuitous Christian taunting and mocking such as this that will keep me from voting for Trump if he becomes the nominee.
It’s very dark and I would never want to be part of a movement with that at its core.
In my opinion, you are correct on that.
At first I did not trust or like Trump. But the more he was attacked and lied on about what he said and says on this forum, the more I came to like him. And after seeing who it is that attack him and twist and lie about what he says, I came to the conclusion that these are Hillary supporters and voters that have infiltrated this forum. I also believe that since they support Hillary and will vote for her when the opportunity arises, that they also voted for Obama two times. Along with Donald's other talents, he has the innate ability to smoke out Hillary and Obama supports. Like moths drawn to a flame, they cannot resist.
Did he Praise the stimulus and said Obama was doing a good job?
Why are you who say you are conservative using the left talking points? Coker and TPA were never conservative. Like his wife who co authored the North Americam Alliance Cruz is more globalist than I can support. But we waste time here as neither of us is likely to change our opinion. Have a good day.
Ted Cruz was the first POTUS candidate engaged in this fight against the gOpE.
Ted Cruz was not fighting the GOPe. He was campaigning for POTUS. Graham knows that and that is why he’s endorsing Ted Cruz. If Graham really hated and feared Cruz he’d endorse Trump. He won’t be doing that because career politician and former Bush admin official Ted Cruz is GOPe all the way.
What lies about Trump have been said onthis forum?
Just because you don’t like hearing them doesn’t make them lies
English translation:
We need more Mehhicckans.
MY DONORS need more Mehhiccans.
My donors really, reeeeely need more Mehhicckans.
Nicely put. That and if Leslie is willing to play ball with Cruz then you know they can take Cruz in the back room and have a little talk with him.
Linda doesn’t have to do that. Cruz’s big donors will do it for him. Like they did on TPA when Cruz carried Obama’s water for Goldman Sachs, etc.

We need more Mehhicckans.
MY DONORS need more Mehhiccans.
My donors really, reeeeely need more Mehhicckans.
Cruz is the establishments backup plan. They may hate him, but at least he is one of them.
Exactly. The GOPe has a pecking order of preference. Jeb was their 1st. He’s gone. Now it’s down to Rubio and he has a grand total of 1 win. Who remains? Kasich or Cruz, and Kasich has zero wins at the moment.
If those two fall, the GOPe would likely switch support to Hillary. Anything and everything to preserve their power. The public be damned.
Romney and his stooge Senator Sasse are already planning a 3rd Party “constitionalist” run to throw the race to Hillary if Trump gets the nom. This isn’t tin foil stuff. Check out Sasse’s twitter.
We Cruz supporters liked and defended Donald Trump until, as Trump confessed during a debate that “because he was getting close” Duh Donald turned on Cruz and his supporters on us with the most mean-spirited profane and unhinged hateful mendacity ever unleashed on any presidential candidate. We were totally shocked!
Trump and his benighted and nasty myrmidons convinced most conservatives that we would be complete suckers to ever vote for him.
That other RINO Romney lost to Obama from doing the same thing.
Everybody in the establishment seems to think Trump will be hard pressed to win in November. I think he has a clear path forward. Avoid commenting on Clinton's cankles. Attack on her lack of integrity, Benghazi, illegal email server. When she attacks him for being wealthy, counterattack with how she and her husband made their money.
In the interest of being open, I voted for Cruz. I would love to see a debate between Cruz and Clinton, but only one candidate is going to say "War on women? Let me point out my opponent is married to a rapist."
Lindsey oughta consider....what the Trump voters might do, if he makes one move against Trump....
Not to mention what Trump might do.
Loyalty is a two way street. If the GOP violate “the pledge” Trump will be forced to respond and I have no dobut he will withdraw his support of the GOP. There will be a lot of donor class GOPers looking for jobs on K Street after Trump tells his supporters (half the base) not to vote for them.
You can find the answer to that question in my tagline.
His statement was added to, which makes it a lie. They are others. Get someone that has the ability to read to read them aloud to you. And you can pick out them for yourself.
So true.
