Trump says it clearly: the wall is not negotiable. The details like size, color, type, location, etc. will be a matter of discussion.

This is a lying headline. Another bearing of false witness.

He also affirmed his position on immigration. (I actually listened to the interview.)

Just said the details of those being allowed to return will be fair.

Any return that doesn't put illegals at the end of the long quota line is unfair.

Certainly "expediting" them back is unfair.

The only fair way they return is if they leave without being deported and get in line back at home behind all the people who have been trying to enter legally.

I can see negotiations about how to get them all out, but there should be no negotiations or fast tracks back for anyone that entered our country illegally.

If Trump had answered the NYT that day: The wall will be EXACTLY what I say it is going to be. I am going to do exactly what I want with the illegal aliens who are here, there will be NOTHING that comes up that can change me, no mitigating circumstances that may arise, and I don't care---I've got a pen and a phone...etc...

If he said THAT, the Cruzers would be screaming "He's unyielding, he's a dictator, he's Mussolini, he can't get along with other people, he won't accept a changing world with changing circumstances, he has no respect for the opinions of others. yadayada"

People are like that.

Reminds me of what always happens in a police shooting. The cop kills a thug in a shoot out, the neighbors and professional agitators go NUTS, demand indictments, yadayada.

BUT if the cop had NOT shot the thug and the thug got away and the thug killed a citizen later that day, the community and professional grievance class would be crying "The cop had a chance to stop this but he didn't! Cops are supposed to protect us but he let this thug get away and now the thug killed one of us!" etc

Now, THESE two examples are failing to stand on PRINCIPLE.
