Donald Trump scored his biggest coup yet by receiving the endorsement of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, a respected voice on immigration and trade.
Washington Examiner:
Sessions becomes the first Senate Republican to endorse Trump for president. Sessions cited immigration and trade, as his rationale for supporting Trump.
"I told Donald Trump this isn't a campaign," Sessions said. "This is a movement."
"Look at what's happening," Sessions said, referring to the size of the crowd. Trump claimed the crowd size was 30,000 people with 3,000 people still waiting to get in.
"The American people have known for years that these trade agreements have not be working for them," Sessions said. "We will soon have a vote on the Trans Pacific Partnership, Obamatrade. It will damage America."
"Donald Trump, when he gets elected president, will see that it does not pass," Sessions said.
"The American people are not happy with their government," Sessions said. "Some say 'You know, you just need to let the people calm down a little bit, and they'll forget it, and let it all go.' Should we forget it? No, we should not."
Meanwhile, Nebraska senator Ben Sasse became the first of what is expected to be a handful of GOP senators who will refuse to back Donald Trump as the GOP nominee.
Sen. Ben Sasse, a Nebraska Republican, said Sunday that he is unlikely to support real estate developer Donald Trump in a general election.
"If Trump becomes the Republican nominee my expectation is that I'll look for some 3rd candidate a conservative option, a Constitutionalist," Sasse tweeted Sunday night.
Sasse, a conservative former university president, has previously been sharply critical of Trump's views, arguing the former reality television star does not embrace the conservative principles of limited government and liberty.

Once again, “the pledge” is a one-way affair evidently.
I questioned Trump’s wisdom in taking it.
But I gotta admit, he smoked them out GOOD!!
What’s “prominent” or “conservative” about Sasse?
False premise
Sasse is connected to Romney. Romney is pulling the strings to throw the election to Hillary if necessary. Book it.
How is this guy a prominent Senator? Sasse is a first term Senator with less seniority than Cruz. The only times I have heard anything about him is when he is bashing Trump.
Sasse is an asse
This is posturing. A few of these guys are still in denial. Once Trump secures the nomination they will fall in line.
RE: Whats prominent or conservative about Sasse?
I guess, the only way to answer that is to have to look at his Senate record.
He has an “A” Liberty Score at the Conservative Review site:

Otherwise, what other criteria do we propose to look at?
RE: Once Trump secures the nomination they will fall in line.
Of course, otherwise Hillary is the alternative. That applies to anyone else who secures the nomination.
I have already voted for Trump. But Sasse is a genuine conservative. He’s like Cruz in many respects. I’m sorry this is playing out in this way, b/c I sure don’t want to see Sasse (or Cruz...) marginalized.

Nope. This is real. Sasse is throwing bombs now to get attention. Later backed by Romney’s money & network he will run third party. All the GOPe need is too peel off some suburban votes in battleground states to throw the election to the Hildabeast.
There are billions at stake with TPP and amnesty. These globalist bums are not going to go down easy.

Sasse supports Obama’s TPP. Nothing conservative about that at all.
“Once again, the pledge is a one-way affair evidently.”
Apparently it was only for Trump in their minds. IMHO Sasse is being exposed as one of the insiders.
Donald Trump is doing a great job of smoking out the traitors to the people. Sasse is now squarely in Trump's sights. People have long memories.
They are more concerned about their own gravy train then falling behind the nominee. They will do what is in their best interest. Many republicans personal best interest is a Hillary presidency.
BOTH Jeff Sessions & Ben Sasse are good solid constitutional conservatives. Sasse will certainly come around to supporting Trump in the general election should Trump be the nominee, as appears to be increasingly likely.
Of course, otherwise Hillary is the alternative. That applies to anyone else who secures the nomination.
Really? After “nevertrump” and strongly insinuating that Trump’s supporters are Klansmen? The GOPe are going to just fall in line after that to support Trump? Nonsense. The rebellion is on. Choose your side, FRiend.
Sasse is a RINO.
RE: Sasse is a RINO.
Based on what Senate record?
Yes and I have asked the question many times; how does Mitch McConnell’s or Paul Ryan’s life change if a Dem gets elected President? It doesn’t. They still have their jobs, power and status. They care nothing for the American people.
