Comedian Chris Rock gave what has to be both the most monotonous and racially-charged Academy Award monologue in its entire history it was 10 minutes of nothing but one #OscarsSoWhite joke after another.
Then for the cherry on top, he shouted out Black lives matter! at the end.
Rock hit the audience right out of the starting gate.
Man, I counted at least 15 black people on that montage, he said. Hey, well, Im here at the Academy Awards, otherwise known as the white Peoples Choice Awards. You realize if they nominated hosts, I wouldnt even get this job. Yall be watching Neil Patrick Harris right now.
But a lot of his monologue wasnt at all funny. It was peppered with political opinions fueling the racial divide in America or more accurately bashing racist whites and cops.
You know, this year, the Oscars, things are going to be a little different. Things are going to be a little different at the Oscars, he said. This year, in the in memoriam package, its just going to be black people that were shot on their way to the movies. Yes. Yes. I said it. All right?
Rock did take a mild swipe at Jada Pinkett Smith, the actress who began a boycott of the event with this indulgent rant.
Heres what he said:
But what happened this year? What happened? People went mad, you know? Spike got mad and Jada went mad and Will and everybody went mad, you know? Like Jada got mad, Jada says shes not coming, protesting, Im like doesnt she have a TV show? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihannas panties. I wasnt invited. Oh, thats its not an invitation I would turn down. But I understand, I Im not hating. I understand youre mad. Jada is mad. Her man was not nominated. I get it. I get it. You get mad. Said its not fair that Will was this good and doesnt get nominated. Youre right. It is also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West, okay? Okay?
Oscars MOST revealing moment: Watch how crowd treats conservative Stacey Dash, minority outreach director
The #OscarsSoWhite controversy began when, for the second year in a row, the nominating committee, chaired by an African-American woman, didnt nominate a single black artist in any category. Soon thereafter, people announced they were boycotting the event.
Even President Obama felt the need to weigh in on the so-called controversy.
Eventually the committee caved and promised to become less male and less white in their nominations.
So maybe its not about talent after all maybe its about diversity.
Underscoring that notion, the crowd cringed when the academys first minority outreach director was named and brought onstage: conservative black actress Stacey Dash.
I guess being black doesnt count if youre a conservative.

Rock must have done something right because EVERYONE is mad at him this morning,
Everybody really does Hate Chris.
BOOM!
OH for the good old days of Bob Hope!
Then for the cherry on top, he shouted out Black lives matter! at the end.
Even Billy Cristal. His Oscar emcees were the last one I watched.
I could care less about individual nominations. I was addressing a far larger issue: That every group “deserves” a nomination based on their ethnicity, not necessarily the quality of their work.
That audience just loved it.
‘Rock’ is just a jive-assed show off who thinks he’s really clever and funny.
The decision makers behind choosing Rock to MC the Academy Awards show should be ashamed of themselves and fired! He denigrated the Academy, the actors and film industry people in attendance and the world wide audience at large.
To put it bluntly; Chris Rock literally "screwed the Academy Awards pooch" on live TV, broadcast around the world and turned the entire event into a back racist laughingstock! It was nothing short of shameful.
He’s devalued every future award for “people of color,” because they’ll be viewed as presented only for skin tone, not any appreciable talent.
I think Chris Rock would be devastated to learn how many people think he’s not funny, clever, smart, or witty. He’s just a jive turkey.
