A few weeks after Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% joined a bipartisan push for an immigration overhaul in 2013, he arrived alongside Senator Chuck Schumer at the executive dining room of News Corporations Manhattan headquarters for dinner.
Their mission was to persuade Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the media empire, and Roger Ailes, the chairman and chief executive of its Fox News division, to keep the networks on-air personalities from savaging the legislation and give it a fighting chance at survival.
Mr. Murdoch, an advocate of immigration reform, and Mr. Ailes, his top lieutenant and the most powerful man in conservative television, agreed at the Jan. 17, 2013, meeting to give the senators some breathing room.
But the media executives, highly attuned to the intensifying anger in the Republican grass roots, warned that the senators also needed to make their case to Rush Limbaugh, the king of conservative talk radio, who held enormous sway with the partys largely anti-immigrant base.
The dinner at News Corporation headquarters which has not been previously reported and the subsequent outreach to Mr. Limbaugh illustrate the degree to which Mr. Rubio served as the chief envoy to the conservative media for the group supporting the legislation. The bill would have provided a pathway to American citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants along with measures to secure the borders and ensure that foreigners left the United States upon the expiration of their visas.

From the NYTIMES Article:
________________________
“As early as March 9, 2011, Mr. Schumer joined Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina and another eventual member of the Gang of Eight, at the Palm restaurant in Manhattan, where they made their case to Mr. Murdoch, Mr. Ailes and Mr. Limbaugh in a private room. The senators argued how damaging the word ‘amnesty’ was to their efforts, and walked Mr. Limbaugh through their vision for an immigration overhaul.”

No wonder Rush was whitewashing Rubio being a member of the “Gang of Eight” and calling him a “full-throated conservative.”
I just cannot believe it! Thanks Rush...FOR NOTHING!!
The utterly disgusting incestuous nature nature of all of this STINKS ON ICE! It's now way past time to stop watching FNC and listening to Rush, for those who have stopped yet.
wow.
SPOT ON!
I recall after Rubio got elected to the senate, the big three radio hosts, Rush, Levin and Hannity all kept referring to Rubio as their friend.
I thought that was odd, why would these three people be friends with some guy from the Florida government.
And what do they mean by friends? Do their families get together on holidays, do their kids spend the night at each others houses, in Rush’s case his cats, do they go fishing on the weekends or maybe camping or motorcycle riding or other things friends do together?
Don’t think so.
So it definitely seemed to me that all three of them seemed to be trying to warm their audiences to the Rube for some reason.
Guess this was it ;/
I just started typing names from memory!
NO List at all!
Had no idea who would be up and awake at this hour.
:)
An election like no other. My head is spinning. I’ll give Rush until Monday to react to this. One nagging question I have is..this is like the 2nd or 3rd bombshell coming from the New York Times, if which I maintain a healthy skepticism of. All before Super Tuesday. Did they just grow a conscience or?..... inquiring minds really want to know.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse
Et tu Laura?
I know Catholic loves Catholics and good works
Levin is too quick on the you’re a bigot button if folks disagree with him
Rush I’m not surprised
Sean same crap....
Laura surprises me
We need a new nationalist front and channel
Smelled out Lame-Baugh from the beginning. Fake all the way. Big-mouth attention getter.
How do I know? He’s got a terrible golfswing, non-athlete.
Trump needs to ride this pony hard next few days and call them all out
I just emailed Rush with my disgust at his lies all these years, pretending he was loyal and trustworthy. Of all people... He who used to squeal over media talking points WAS TAKING THE MEMOS HIMSELF. What a liar. I feel like he cheated on me, on all of us. I prayed for him, loved him. What did he even get out of this? Was cash exchanged, or did he just like being with the cool kids (slimy senators)?
Bump
Trump should boycott another Fux debate. He wants to build a wall and send them back, Murdoch hates America and wants cheap labor and no borders
I’m sorry but I most certainly noticed
a) FOX SUPPORTED GO8
b) Rush was muted and supports Rubio
c) Sean backed off on GO8
Levin and Laura harder to remember....but I don’t trust Levin anymore
In their defense, Rubio was the TEA Party candidate who defeated a sitting GOPe governor. Levin was the first to support this upstart. He snowed a lot of people, and has disappointed many others..
Levin is very outspoken in his outrage against this poseur. The others? Not so much.
I was listening to Rush when he called Rubio a “full throated conservative” and, frankly, I thought he was in the mid stages of dementia!
A fair and balanced assessment.
Rush is a PHONY, a FRAUD, a CONMAN who hasn't been worth listening to for a while now. And before you call me out on this, I've been listening to him since '89, but stopped listening more than a month ago, because he is a blithering idiot with NOTHING of value to say.
In the late '90s, he used to quote a lot of posters here ( me included ) without attribution!
For many years, he has been a day to a week late with "news", which I knew about already.
Buddy it’s far more anti Trump than Cruz
It’s a drumbeat
Yesterday Bret Baier let Rubio have a no contested ad hominum tirade against Trump
And Cruz sideways endorsed Rubio
Politicians first in the lifeboat....Ted included
And it pleases me none to acknowledge that
Why don’t you trust Levin? He is ranting all of the time against what is going on, and supports Cruz, though he can’t endorse anybody.
