A poll of Alabama ahead of its Super Tuesday vote shows Donald Trump with a solid 13-point lead over the rest of the Republican field. Trump has 36 percent support, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)in second with 23 percent. Cruz is in third with 16 percent while Ben Carson has 10 percent support. John Kasich is last with 8 percent.
The only other poll of Alabama was released in early December. In that poll Donald Trump had 35 percent, the same as in the current poll. Cruz had 15 percent, essentially tied with Rubio and Carson who had 12 percent support each. The drop in Trump’s support from the earlier poll seems to reflect a movement towards Rubio.
The increase in support for Rubio is somewhat surprising in Alabama, if this poll is accurate. Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has been the leading national political figure against amnesty for illegal immigrants and,particularly, against the “Gang of 8” bill co-sponsored by Rubio.
Cruz has campaigned nationally on his work with Sen. Sessions on defeating the Gang of 8 legislation. Based on other states’ results, it is probable that the voters most animated by the issue of illegal immigration have gravitated to Trump, at the expense of Cruz.
While Trump remains the favorite to win Alabama, it is noteworthy that his support hasn’t grown since the end of the year. Although it is difficult to compare two different polls, Rubio does seem to have some momentum in Alabama.
The poll interviewed 460 likely Republican primary voters and has a margin of error of +/- 4.6 percent. It is only one poll in a state that has seen very little polling and very little campaign activity.

Exactly. I think they made a mistake in the article.
I was wondering about that “drop” in Trump’s support, all the way down from 35% to 36%? But Rubio’s gain probably didn’t come from Cruz supporters, as Cruz also gained a percentage point. I’m guessing Rubio picked up the Bush votes.
Tuesday may seal the deal and make them squeal.
Taking in Beck was one of the dumbest moves I’ve ever seen.
He squeaked by in Iowa because people didn’t think much of a mere endorsement. I certainly don’t put much stock in them.
But to have him out on the stump all the time? Just...Insane!

I used to love listening to Beck before he went to TV.
They had fun and kept it entertaining. Then, it seemed like he felt he was chosen to lead movements to the point of them becoming unhealthy obsessions.
He now seems to be throwing in all of his media chips to destroying Trump at the risk of destroying everything he’s built.
It really rocked my faith in Cruz to make good decisions when he teamed with Beck. And his dropping polls seem to align with the very moment he made that horrid decision.

The fact that Ted Cruz teamed up with Rubio and shaking hands behind Trumps back was really disgusting. Cruz has lost all credibility with me. Rubio never had any credibility to begin with. Listen to this podcast about Rubios gang of 8 bill. Now you will see another disgusting example of how these politicians will do ANYTHING for money.
Rubio is one of the most dangerous of the Republican politicians because he looks and acts so cute and innocent.
