RUSH: In terms of substance? I disagree with Chris Wallace. I think there was substance in this debate last night, and depending on what you want -- depending on what you were hoping to see and then what you think going forward -- there's really only one candidate in this debate last night which was chock-full of genuine policy-oriented substance, and that was Cruz. And I happen to know, folks...
I hear from people constantly, as you can imagine, and I hear from you even on the phones. But there have been people during the entirety of this campaign who think that Trump is a pretender, that he really doesn't know much about what all this is about, that he's getting by on the cult of celebrity and other things in our pop culture that people get excited by and attach to. There have been people who say, "We've gotta expose Trump. Trump's gotta be exposed. He doesn't know what he's talking about. He doesn't know conservatism.
"He doesn't know policy. He's just up there saying things that sound good in a populist sense." So what Cruz did last night was essentially expose that. If that's what you think needs and has needed to happen, Cruz did it last night. And probably the best way to illustrate how it happened is, one of the fears that a lot of anti-Trump people have is he's not really even a Republican. And they keep talking about all of his donations to people like Chuck Schumer and the Clintons.
Trump's response was, "Hey, look, you know, I live in New York City and they run the show there, and I'm in business, and there are certain things you have to do to get things done. You have to work with these people. But I'm a Republican." And he's made it clear, and he's tried to make that point over and over again. But Trump found last night Ted Cruz illustrating that. (summarized) "Look, if you think we have to beat Hillary Clinton, Trump's not the guy to do it. Trump cannot go out and hit Hillary Clinton on any of the things that she has done, any of her corruption, because he has contributed to her.
"He has donated. All that would have to happen," Cruz says, "is for Trump to hit Hillary in the debate and Hillary, and all she's gotta do is say, 'Donald, I don't know what your problem is. You donated to me to do this exact thing. So I don't know what your problem is now.'" And Cruz said, "We can't nominate somebody who donated to her." It's akin to the people that said we shouldn't nominate Romney. "If we nominate Romney, there's no way we can get Obama on Obamacare because Romney invented it in Massachusetts.
"Romney gave us Romneycare, and the guy that wrote Romneycare then turned around and wrote Obamacare," and it took Obamacare off the table as far as Romney's concerned. He couldn't hit it because there's a retort, "What do you mean you don't like Obamacare? You wrote its father. You implemented and signed into law its father, Romneycare. What are you?" And Cruz's point was that same set of circumstances with Hillary are going to occur.
Because it can be demonstrated that Trump's donations to the Clintons over the years -- including to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation -- have facilitated political move that Hillary Clinton has made. So the people who have wanted Trump exposed, that was pretty substantively done by Cruz. On the Rubio side, what Rubio did was literally just laugh at Trump all night, literally made fun of him, mock him. Not act frightened or afraid of him, and not be worried about ticking off his supporters, either.
A first for both.

Ted Cruz Files Amendment To Deny Path To Citizenship As Senate Works On Bill
......”The amendments filed today to strengthen border security and reform our legal immigration system will not only bring meaningful, effective improvements to our immigration system, but also have a chance of becoming law,” said Cruz in a statement. “America is a nation of immigrants, built by immigrants and we need to honor that heritage by fixing our broken immigration system, while upholding the rule of law and championing legal immigration.”
His amendments are among more than 300 filed by the Tuesday evening deadline. Republicans wanting tighter enforcement provisions filed a majority of the amendments, with Sen. Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa, leading the pack with 77 amendments.
Supporters of the bill, mainly of the part of it that would legalize millions of undocumented immigrants, kept a steady drumbeat in defense of the measure though emails, websites and social media.
In a press release, America’s Voice, a leading national group that advocates for more lenient immigration laws, singled out Cruz’s anti-citizenship amendment as particularly worrisome.
“This would not only destroy the path to citizenship in the Senate bill - the popular heart of an immigration reform solution - but also turn its back on 100 years of precedent in immigration policy,” said the release..........

Whoâs right: Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio?
“....The bipartisan group of eight senators - including battle-tested veterans and relative newcomers like Rubio - painstakingly negotiated a delicate compromise in early 2013 that would overhaul every corner of the U.S. immigration system, including a 13-year pathway to citizenship for millions here illegally.
Fans and foes of the legislation, as well as observers at the time, knew the core bill couldn’t change too dramatically because that would upset that compromise, which not only had the backing of Democrats and Republicans in the Senate but also coalitions off the Hill, such as labor unions and the business lobby.
Cruz’s amendment - which called for stripping out a pathway to citizenship, but keeping a path for legalization - would have done precisely that.
The night before each Senate Judiciary Committee markup, senior Gang of Eight aides would huddle to scour through each of the amendments that were teed up for the following day, determining which proposals would be palatable and which would be unacceptable. This strategy was meant to ensure the core elements of the Gang of Eight deal would stay intact (the four members of the Gang who sat on the Judiciary Committee would vote in a bloc, usually with the rest of the committee Democrats, to vote down potential deal-killers).
“This one was one that clearly we all had to oppose because it went to the core of the deal,” recalled an aide to a Senate Democrat during the 2013 negotiations. “It could’ve unraveled the whole deal. Sure, Cruz himself never called it a “poison pill” at the time. But no senator refers to his own proposal as a poison pill, even if it plainly is. The Gang of Eight never considered Cruz as “gettable,” and it was well-known at the time that Cruz was never going to vote for the bill and was in fact, trying to kill it.”.....

The only reason that Rush is pushing this nonsense is because Cruz came up with it and Rush wants to back up Cruz.
Trump has addressed this issue many times. Cruz’s ploy was to present it as if it is something that Trump has carefully kept hidden. Trump talked about it during the first debate last August. Everyone already knows it. The only thing that mystifies me is that Trump of some reason neglects to mention that he has given about the same amount to Republicans.
Now, if the witch wants to throw it up to Trump during a debate, all Trump has to say, among many possibilities, is to remind her she is the one who is always up for sale.
Cruz’s packed donors say the exact opposite of him being a WDC outsider... He owes them first, NOT US.
And what be yours? HeeeHaw . Heeehaw.
Trump and his BFF Hillary are in cahoots and the Trumpers are too stupid to breath.
If Duh Donald gets the nomination please remember you should vote no matter what. If you don’t want to be held responsible for the destruction of America at the hands of liberal Hillary or RINO Donald, vote for the Libertarian candidate—he will be the only conservative on the ballot.
:: “You have to work with these people. But I’m a Republican.” ::
Trump needs to follow such statements up with:
“Not only that, I’m a protector of the Milton Freedman idea of the free market. Liberty and the trade-market rule our governance. Without a market and without liberty our ^free^ economy is a slave to the government.”
The VERY MOMENT one of the candidates references Milton Friedman...that’s who I will stand behind.

But diplomacy is not like a real estate negotiation. Hamas does not look at the world in terms of nuts and bolts. They will not settle for less.
As for getting things done:somethings yes, somethings, no. He has had a lot of ventures that have gone bust.
Ted Cruz whole candidacy is a weakness.
“The Great Conservative has now SWERVED to support the 8Gang Cabana Boy.”
Did Rush mention that today?
âHe can do it tomorrow. He doesnât want to do it, because presumably hereâs something in thereâ- Ted Cruz
Cruz has yet to release his. What is he hiding?
"..Trump said Monday that the New Jersey governor had to have knowledge of the lane closures because the decision was made by aides who were his former trusted allies.
"The GW Bridge, he knew about it," Trump said during a speech in Mount Pleasant, S.C. of Christie's involvement in the scandal, which has been dubbed "Bridgegate."
"How do you have breakfast with people everyday of your lives...They're closing up the largest bridge in the world....they're with them all the time," Trump continued. "They never said 'Hey boss, we're closing up the George Washington Bridge.' No, they're talking about the weather right? So he knew about it...He totally knew about it."
Trump added "I would say there's less than one percent chance" Christie was unaware of the decision of close the bridge lanes, which is the most heavily-traveled bridge in the U.S., carrying more than 100 million vehicles per year between New Jersey and New York City.
The GOP presidential frontrunner also criticized Christie for credit downgrades that have occurred during his tenure as New Jersey and appearing with President Obama to tour damage from Hurricane Sandy in the days before the 2012 election.
"I thought he was going to vote for Obama," he said.
"I think he probably did," Trump continued, saying he was disappointed that 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney met with Christie after the election.
"If Christie did that to me, I would have never spoken to him again," Trump said......
But Trump sounds more like a mercantilist.
That’d be truly awesome. But we’ll probably never see it happen in this country.
Exactly. Boom!
More to the point: Trump not even promising to reveal his tax returns.
no. we won’t nominate Walker. He already dropped out.
It is all accusations. Accusations are not evidence. Are you from the 13th century?
The Donald has a â? after his name not an R. Definitely not a C C.
It was a sad Rush day today. He was screaming.
What is quite interesting here is that Rush Limbaugh seems to have swallowed the Levin Kool-aid that there is no eligibility issue with Cruz. So we are seeing what the one who goes by the name Savage, as an ardent Trump backer, going up against what he calls the “Limbaugh cartel.” I would not have thought before this primary season that I would wind up seeing Savage being in the right on an issue and Limbaugh and Levin being on the wrong side of the issue. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
