Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey endorsed Donald J. Trump on Friday, a major turn in a wild race and one that gives the New York businessman a major boost as he heads into the pivotal Super Tuesday contests.
Mr. Christie was a candidate himself until he came in sixth place in New Hampshire’s primary. But his backing of Mr. Trump comes after weeks of him saying that it was time for the “entertainment†portion of the race to end, and as he had said that the type of executive leadership that a governor has is important.

Cruz is saying he prefers Rubio’s Gang of 8 and Obamatrade to Trump. I never realized we had so many FReepers supporting amnesty and Obamatrade but I guess politics makes strange bedfellows.

A friend of mine is on the fence about Donald and has all ways liked Chris Christie. I’m sure this will make a difference.
What vitriol against devout Christians are you talking about?
After last night, Cruz ditched his ‘most conservative in the race’ bragging rights. If anything, he outed himself as a traitor to the cause.
Amnesty is the make or break issue for conservatism this year. Period. Fullstop. If amnesty passes, conservatives lose on every issue as Democrats bring in more and more liberal voters.
And so Cruz going all buddy-buddy with Mr. Gang-of-Eight Rubio trumpets out that for all his saber rattling about deporting illegals and building the wall, he’s actually lying through his teeth about it.
After supporting the total destruction of conservative thought in this country by his support of Rubio, Cruz can no longer be called any kind of conservative. He was my second choice; now he and Rubio are dead last.
Pretty much since New Hampshire, but especially after South Carolina on myriad threads - many that discussed Evangelical voters.
The gloating of Trump’s win coupled with the bashing of Christians supporting Cruz was truly alarming in it’s viciousness, here on this board.
But then, I am a “Holy Roller”; an annoying ‘Bible Thumper’; a ‘Christian Taliban” according to some here, so my observations have already been castigated as ‘desperation in search of victimhood’.
As someone who believes that I will face God when I die, the Right to Life trumps all issues.

Good! Then you should support Trump.
Why?
Because every other candidate is beholden to the amnesty-loving donors, even Cruz, as he proved last night. Once enough illegals get in and are legalized, the Ds will have a critical mass and start winning every election from here on down.
And that means unrestricted abortions all over the place. A lot more than what might happen if a President is wobbly for one or two terms but manages to secure the border.
Christie’s support shows who Donald Trump really is — an Establishment RINO.

I know that there’s been plenty of rancor spread on this board. Lately I’ve taken more than a little pleasure in spreading it myself. But outright mocking of the Christian faith would probably get a good zotting.
Of course, it depends on your definition of ‘bashing Christians.’ Because I’ve been bashed repeatedly on this board by Cruz supporters who have told me that my faith isn’t pure, that I’m going to Hell, et cetera et cetera, and told me that I wasn’t a real Christian or that my faith was a sham.
I suspect that a fair amount of what you’ve been describing is a hostile reaction to similar things to what I experienced. In which case, it’s not bashing the Christian faith. It’s punching back against the people who were attacking first.
well, maybe you can make NYers an offer they can’t refuse :)

I’m hoping things calm down, but until then I’m really sick of being under constant attack. Even if it’s just in a comment, I will punch back if I’m punched. But I’d rather not be punched in the first place if I can help it.

he’s a governor, in a northern state. Probably wont go for reelection.
