Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey endorsed Donald J. Trump on Friday, a major turn in a wild race and one that gives the New York businessman a major boost as he heads into the pivotal Super Tuesday contests.
Mr. Christie was a candidate himself until he came in sixth place in New Hampshireâs primary. But his backing of Mr. Trump comes after weeks of him saying that it was time for the âentertainmentâ portion of the race to end, and as he had said that the type of executive leadership that a governor has is important.

Strategic. Christie Creme = Incoming...B-52. Beware Robot & Jesus Cruz! ;)
“...but people keep saying âwhy, he CAN take NY and NJ!â with nothing concrete to back it up”
Since this is Trump’s first time around the political block, just what kind of back-up would you be looking for? Kicking butt with the entire media, and both parties pulling out all the stops to bring him down - does that qualify as some kind of indication of a change in the electorate’s thinking?
Are you up to speed on what’s transpired over the past seven years in this country? When your stomach’s empty, one of the first things to go is liberal ideology.
Trump owns the South LOL Marco can explain this in the South https://twitter.com/Johnatsrs1949/status/703301741895249920/photo/1
Rubot
I hope Trump does not have plans to pick him a VP.
Wouldn't that be something? If they call New York for Trump, it's all over! I can't wait for November 8th! I have that bottle of Champagne I bought in 08 hoping Palin would get in, it's still in the corner, saving for the evening of November 8!
Hadn’t thought of Christie as AG. What a great idea! He’d be kicking ass and taking names, and the first one he’d kick would be Hillary’s.
AG, yes. SCOTUS, no. Too socially liberal.
And Cruz has Beck. I take Christie any day over that nut.
“Now you have Giuliani and Christie backing Trump”
Really... Giuliani, officially? I didn’t know that. Super!
I agree about the ‘substance’.
I have heard substance from Cruz, some from Rubio, Carson, Fiorina, even Christie and Bush. I disagree with some of those specifics one candidate or another has offered, but at least they offered it.
I have heard absolutely NO substance from Trump except his ability to identify the problem, general action steps without specifics while giving sweeping nebulous statements reiterating the identity of the problem when pressed for specifics.
I do not think that is entirely his fault.
The media-run kingmakers that handled all these stupid cage-match debates designed to hurt anyone opposed to Hillary did not provide a platform for any of them to actually discuss substance beyond the narratives of the Leftist Establishment.
Sadly Trump and Rubio refused to attend the Conservative Convention where they could have had that opportunity to speak, and present some substance without the media filter.
I am resigned to the belief that this people by and large are not interested in substance, but smooth and easy generalities that identify blame for the woes they are feeling and the fears they have.
“He is anti-abortion, fights the teachers’ unions (the de facto owners of the Democratic Party), and vehemently anti-tax.”
I love the sound of that, especially the “fights the unions” part! That’s actual organized crime and we need someone who won’t back down from them.
Not with some Puritans on this board.
I hope Christie can help Trump in NJ; the media pounds him here regularly, but he is still a popular supporter of taxpayers.
Also, again thinking for yourself, every Republican candidate had said out loud when the field was 17 deep that any Republican running would be a capable president.
Rubio, with all is warts, is certainly more conservative than Trump and Cruz, being the only Conservative in the race, acknowledged that.
It's really that simple. Now, having Jimmy Carter endorsing you..............
He is; I take criticism of him lightly here on FR unless the poster is a NJ resident. He is a right-winger for this part of the country, for sure.
So:
Donald: Stop the braggadocio and rabble-rousing. You have people’s attention, now speak like a statesman and tribune of the people. Help give those who are angry the proper reasons for being so, and what in detail should really be done. If you cannot or will not, you are not the man for the job.
Ted: Stop the preaching. You need to show people you know the difference between the church and the state you endeavor to lead. Help give those who are not Christian a real example of what a Christian statesman should be and do. If you cannot or will not, you are not the man for the job.
Marco: Stop trying to impress people with your own cleverness. Your appealing personality is being wasted if you do not plainly, clearly, consistently tell people in every venue you appear in what exactly you believe and what exactly you will do. If you cannot or will not, you are not the man for the job.
When he was initially running for election and the teachers’ unions were attacking him, the Asbury Park Press published the salaries of all public school teachers’ salaries in NJ (as public information). He won the race for governor, and opened the eyes of many taxpayers as to the true salaries of these parasites. That information can still be found online; public school teacher acquaintances were forever silenced by it, because it betrayed the lie that they are underpaid - they rake in more than most private sector employees in NJ (especially since the collapse of 2007) while working 180 days per year (and those days aren’t 9-5).
She was used by McCain to paint him as something he was not, then blamed for the loss.
Now she's simply a has been reality TV star who should be focusing more on her family and a bit less on king making.....of which she has been a failure.
For the huge Conservative she made herself out to be, endorsing McCain in 2010 killed any credibility she had.
You can have her......and Jimmy Carter.
Unfortunately, if Obama were unable to finish his failed presidency, we’ll hear about all he would have accomplished with more time...
I’m open to any of the remaining Repubs; they have to be better than the Dem alternatives. I do think it shows that Trump is less beholden to any special interests, and that freedom to speak his mind is certainly gaining supporters. The illegal immigration debate, which was hushed by our media, was returned to prominence by Trump alone.
