And as more mainstream forces in the Republican Party try to unite to stop his march to the nomination, they are finding that the fear of taking on Mr. Trump is discouraging his would-be opponents from signing on to the fight.

“I’ve never encountered an American politician at this level that people are literally afraid of — donors are afraid of him,” said Rich Lowry, the editor of National Review, a magazine that has criticized Mr. Trump. He added, “If it was Hillary Clinton that was doing it, the entire right-wing world would erupt in outrage, understandably and correctly.”

So the GOP establishment is in fear of Trump. That explains why they have slipped to the dark side of the force.

"Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering." - Yoda

As if only “right wingers” care about Hillary’s criminal activities.

The GOP-e is already out a lot of money. I really hate oppo research and negative campaign ads. A total waste. And they’re not effective...at least not this time around.

Just go away Lowry. You've spent years trying to destroy Buckley's legacy, and this year you've finally succeeded. NR will slide into oblivion and irrelevance. Congratulations.

They are afraid of losing their gravy train. Trump is no “threat” in the usual sense. He is not standing between them and honest work, making a living, or pursuit of happiness. He is “leaving them be,” which is the OPPOSITE of threatening.

I’ve never seen such arrogance and assumption of import from a crowd who has consistently been so blitheringly wrong. That’s another thing the Republican establishment is trying to learn from the Dems, albeit very slowly.

They are so “afraid” of Trump they gave $120 million to the Jebster?

and how much to the Clintons?

And they are not “afraid” of Bolshevik Bernie, who would probably love to take their money and turn the Hamptons into a migrant camp?

Maybe the billionaires are “afraid” to attack Trump because being one of their social set, he knows where the skeletons are buried in their yards

It a little surreal when people want to use their wealth or media outlet to try and play the political game yet then whine hysterical when their target shoots back at their attacks.

Sorry but Trump isn’t your standard week kneeded GOP candidate who will stand there while you hit him then ask you to hit him again while apologizing to you for feeling the need to hit him.

He actually states they are afraid of Trump’s ability to retaliate against the donor class. By Twitter. Must mean they don’t like being exposed to the light these donors. Like roaches the donor class prefer the dark corners of the room.

In fairness, Jeb got most of that money before Trump entered the race.
