Sounds great.
Until you consider that:
- The decision to "suspend" [read: provide a free vacation with pay] "ha[d] been criticized by the MU Faculty Council and the American Association of University Professors." (D0uchebags all.)
- There was significant pressure by both university faculty and professionaly faculty organizations to reverse even the mild wrist-slap of her paid holiday.
- A letter of support for Click was signed by 100 faculty members when the university announced her application for tenure would be reviewed in light of her antics and an earlier criminal referral in a similar situation.
- Fully 1/3 of the Curators saw no problem with continuing to employ -- and probably employ for a lifetime appointment -- a vicious thug who sees no problems with trampling on the Bill of Rights even as she draws the salary for her phony-baloney job from the taxpayers of both Missouri and the United States of America.
- Had punitive action not been considered in the state Legislature, she would almost certainly have received no discipline beyond her paid vacation, and would be approved for tenure. But once the budget for her department -- including the dean's salary (mon Dieu!) -- were in danger, UMO finally understood they weren't going to be allowed to dissemble and deflect in the usual manner.
In most private businesses, Click's actions would have led to her being walked from her office by security on the very first day she tried to return to work, along with disciplinary actions resulting in the abrogation of any obligation to termination benefits because her actions constituted actual crimes.
She will almost certainly get some separation benefits that we'll never hear about. In a private university she would not even be disciplined.
