Republican presidential candidate Texas Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said he would seek out and deport all the illegal immigrants in the US and that both fellow candidates Donald Trump and Florida Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)âwould allow those 12 million people to become US citizensâ on Mondayâs âThe OâReilly Factorâ on the Fox News Channel.
Cruz began by stating [relevant remarks begin around 2:30] that the law should be enforced, and illegal immigrants in the US should be deported.
When asked if he would âgo look for themâ Cruz responded, âBill, of course you would. Thatâs what ICE exists for. We have law enforcement that looks for people, who are violating the laws that apprehends them, and deports them.â
When asked if he would send federal law enforcement to the home of someone who overstayed their visa to deport them, Cruz said, âYou better believe it.â He later added that he would put a biometric exit/entry system for visas.
After host Bill OâReilly contended the courts would probably block this plan because of due process, Cruz objected. He further stated, â[T]he biggest difference is that Donald Trump and Marco Rubio and myself, is that both Donald Trump and Marco Rubio would allow those 12 million people to become U.S. citizens. Donald said once he deports them, heâd let them back in as citizens. I will not.â Cruz continued that under existing federal law, illegal immigrants who are deported are not eligible to come back into the US legally, and that Trumpâs and Rubioâs positions âarenât consistent with rule of law.â

I read it. I liked it. I’m voting for him.
I have heard him say several times that the non-criminal illegals who get deported can GET IN THE BACK OF THE LINE of those wanting to come to the US legally. And that immigration numbers need to be reduced.
SO it is NOT “touch back” amnesty. They can NOT just waltz back in. They must go through all the hoops, at the end of the line. And all immigrants must prove before entering the US that they are self supporting, no gov bennies.
They’re all felons according to our laws. They shouldn’t be let back in on principle.
Note my comment above.
NOT touchback amnesty.
Keep in mind that a good chunk of the tediban here and elsewhere are paid bloggers. There was a poster the other night who hadn’t posted in nine years and suddenly came back. Imagine that.
Trillions of dollars and the futures of countless flunkies are on the line here. Illegitimi non carborundum.
Cruz flip-flopped on birthright citizenship and then feigned support for the 2013 immigration bill with a strategy to attach his poison pill amendments.
In essence, he was for it before he was against it. A RedState article covered the time line on this very well.
No he did not.
He is a liar. And to think that I supported a Trump/Cruz ticket last Fall!
Trump won’t be president by the time he deports 5 or 10 million illegals. So worry about this touchback thing later.
It’s “conservative solutions” Mike Pence who had the ridiculous style of touchback amnesty.
As a Trump supporter, I am banking on the fact that he is just kidding, and he really doesn't intend on letting any back in.
I've not seen it. Source? Link?
He needs to call them spontaneous departures.
Nicer wording.

We need to secure the border. Any bill this body passes should have border security first & then legalization. Not the other way around.
I’ve listened to at least 20 rallies and as many interviews. So I don’t know which ones, but I have heard him say it several times.
Tweet him and ask. That specific is not in his position paper on Immigration, but many other details are. Have you read it? Did you see this part?
“End welfare abuse. Applicants for entry to the United States should be required to certify that they can pay for their own housing, healthcare and other needs before coming to the U.S.”

Absolutely not what he said when Trump was grilled about deporting illegals during a debate. Lying Ted said it was un-American and of course he could not go door to door rounding up illegals and deporting them. Rubio said the same thing. Now that Trump has rang his bell he changes his tune and turns into Trump Jr. Aint gonna work Teddy. And if anyone thinks I’m lying I’ll find the video where lying Ted said no way in the hell illegals should be rounded up and deported.
Too bad he didn’t say that in the beginning of the campaign, instead of saying the American people don’t want to have that conversation. I suspect what changed his mind was seeing that Trump’s position was popular. That’s not my definition of a leader, Or someone who is honest.
You are the one LYING...
Cruz is being honest and straightforward. You are backing a LYING candidate and LYING while doing it.
