Having turned Mitt Romney, an extraordinarily kind and decent man, into an imaginary ogre in the minds of a sufficient number of voters, Democrat opposition research propagandists can hardly believe their luck in potentially facing Donald Trump. Add to their pile of must-use issues the possibility that in the midst of a campaign, Trump may be called to testify under oath in a lawsuit in which he is alleged to have defrauded thousands of individuals who ponied up large amounts of money to attend now-defunct Trump University lectures at hotel ballrooms.
Writing at Yahoo Politics, investigative reporter Michael Isikoff (heretofore famous for sitting on the Monica Lewinsky story when at Newsweek) explains:
This spring, just as the GOP nomination battle enters its final phase, frontrunner Donald Trump could be forced to take time out for some unwanted personal business: He’s due to take the witness stand in a federal courtroom in San Diego, where he is being accused of running a financial fraud.
In court filings last Friday, lawyers for both sides in a long-running civil lawsuit over the now defunct Trump University named Trump on their witness lists. That makes it all but certain that the reality-show star and international businessman will be forced to be grilled under oath over allegations in the lawsuit that he engaged in deceptive trade practices and scammed thousands of students who enrolled in his “university” courses in response to promises he would make them rich in the real estate market.
Although the case has been winding its way through the courts for the past five years — and Trump has denied all wrongdoing — the final pretrial conference is now slated for May 6, according to the latest pleadings in the case.

Figures, treasonous Dick Durbin would probably like it too.
“you certainly have no basis to claim the high ground.”
What makes you think I care about the high ground? That’s long gone.
He should have already settled.....
“Figures, treasonous Dick Durbin would probably like it too.”
Yes, he definitely loves the fact that rabid voters support someone no matter what they say or do. Especially if their candidate is more than happy to work with Liberals.
Indeed now he’s doing the biggest scam he will ever do but it he won’t win it.
You’re really eaten up with this. Your hatred and anger come through loud and clear. It’s destructive behavior that could be harmful to your health.
Be careful.
Trump can afford the best lawyers. They will either settle or find ways to delay this for another nine or ten months.
“Itâs destructive behavior that could be harmful to your health.”
But when I aim it towards the establishment on most of my comments, then it’s ok. Right?
Just watch you BP
“Just watch you BP’
Now now with the language. That’s destructive behavior!!!
lol
Trump is an opposition gold mine for the democrats.
Because the mainstream media are holding their fire until Trump has the nomination wrapped up, if he does indeed win.
Better question is why his Republican opponents haven’t brought it up yet. I’ve read the pleadings and Trump is going to lose big. The case is a civil RICO action, and if anyone doesn’t thik the Democrats will accuse him of being a racketeer, they are wrong. Thing is, the Democrats will be telling the truth.
Trump has filed many defamatio lawsuits, and has won exactly ZERO. In his most recent defamation lawsuit, he had to pay the other party’s lawyer almost $800,000 in an anti-SLAAP case directed related to this upcoming civil RICO trial. I have read the pleadings and Trump is going to lose BIG.
Trump already sued the lead plaintiff in the case for defamation. Trump lost and had to pay the woman’s attorney almost $800,000.
Trump has never won a defamation lawsuit because the truth is an absolute defense.
Trump has already had to pay the lead plaintiff’s attorney almost $800,000 for filing a defamation action agaist her related to Trump’s scam.
This is a class action RICO action. Democrats will be calling Trump a racketeer; and they will be stating the truth.
Trump announced his candidacy the same month an appellate court ruled against him in an attempt to decertify the case a a class action RICO case. Having read the pleadings and rulings, it is clear Trump is going to lose BIG.
The only question is how much that impacts his run for president. I agree... he will lose big. Because of the election etc, this is not something he might normally be able to buy his way out of. Just my opinion.
At this point, even if he settles, he will still be fairly called a racketeer.
A side issue is just how many conservative evangelicals are simply not going to vote for President this Fall, or bother even going to the polls?
