Donald Trump takes on federal land control
Washington Examiner ^ | January 8, 2016 | GABBY MORRONGIELLO

Forget China, guns or immigration. Donald Trump is taking on a new issue: federal land ownership.

In a new op-ed for the Reno Gazette-Journal, the Republican presidential front-runner rails against the "draconian rule" of the Bureau of Land Management and the Obama administration's "land grab" in the western United States.

"The BLM controls over 85 percent of the land in Nevada," Trump explains. "In the rural areas, those who for decades have had access to public lands for ranching, mining, logging and energy development are forced to deal with arbitrary and capricious rules that are influenced by special interests that profit from the D.C. rule-making and who fill the campaign coffers of Washington politicians."

This is from two weeks ago but is posted to counter a January 23 hit piece out this morning on FR against Donald Trump entitled:

"Donald Trump: Don't hand federal lands to states"

In the FR thread, shameful posters flame away to portray Donald Trump as someone who is not sensitive to the issues of ranchers and farmers in the West and who is not educated about the Constitution. This thread shows nothing could be further from the truth.

Shame on the posters that joined in the tirade against Trump.

The media is so dishonest and their dishonesty carries over to FR by posters that have joined in lies and propaganda for no reason other than they don't like Donald Trump. You know who you are.

Disclaimer-1 : I'm a Ted Cruz Florida Campaigner

Disclaimer-2 : I've posted "many" complimentary photos and posts at Free Republic admiring Donald Trump's great ideas and courage

If it quacks & walks like a Duck ... it must be a Duck" ...

Isn't that a New York proverb ?

Donald Trump "occasionally" sounds like Putin, Mussolini, or Hillary chatting with Vince Foster ...

It's a damn frightening thing ...

I hope that all those Trump-supporting "Conservative Evangelical Christians" are praying their butts off ...

that The LORD will save Donald from appearing like The Godfather ... (see Disclaimer-2 above) ...

I’m frustrated with Wyoming’s situation where so much of the land is owned by BLM and the railroad. That leaves much unavailable for the Average Joe and housing prices have been way too high for years.

But here in SW Arizona, we’ve got a different issue. Thousands of acres were bought up by ‘foreign investors’ and they just let it sit fallow. Again, the price and availability is completely out of kilter with real market forces.

Cruz’s plan to just sell gov’t land off will be horrible. China and Saudi Arabia will snatch it up and, again, artificially drive up prices.

We need to sell off the land, but to US citizens only. Make that a zoning restriction for that parcel... forever.

Thank you for sharing that flip-flop with us!

If you hadn’t done that, we’d all have a really bad opinion of Mr. Trump’s viewpoint!

Dag nabbit, can’t you let Cruz have one issue he talks about before Trump miraculously did.....lol

Cruz talked this over 5 trillion dollars worth of debt ago. He and Mike Lee looked at it an saw our nations debt at 14 Trillion. They also saw that the land owned by the fed in the west was valued at 14 trillion. They said sell the land and use the money to pay off the debt. That was 2013 or 14.

The future of Western Lands:

The Nevada Governor is trying to keep the Feds from blocking off land the size of Connecticut to protect some "endangered" sage grouse - which also wipes out over 4,000 mining claims.

IT IS NOT THEIRS TO SELL!

The USFS, Park Service AND BLM lands are held and managed under a trust for the American people. If the Federal Government has failed in that trust management, then that turst can and should be taken away and given to...the local communities or the state.

People on these web mud slinging sites could do well to research before they spout off.

If you dont beleiev me then go look it up for yourself.

Donald Trump, Jr. Speaks 2-22-16 Elko NV.
https://youtu.be/1IqfRbjcpDY

It’s a Q and A. Don Jr is more articulate than most candidates in the race! Talks fast, not in a patronizing way and not like he’s lecturing.

Don Jr is part of the full court press from Trump.

“I’m probably the only billionaire’s son more comfortable in a D-10 Cat than a golf cart.”

He personally reloads 100 different calibers.

Very impressive.

the only way to solve the issues sparked by federal land ownership "is to bring to Washington a president who will rein in the federal government and get Congress to do its job."

How is this a flip-flop?

He doesn't say how federal land control will change.

Well... this is an issue I have been fighting my entire life since I have lived and worked in federal forest lands as well as privat lands.

And it really pisses me off when I go to a meeting, or other such and someone gets up and says that the federal government owns land. They do not, other than what is allowed un art 1 sec 8, but they have made it seem that way since TR in the early 1900s.

These lands are held and managed as a trust for the public. That is how they got around the constitution. So, if you research trust, you will find that any trust management can be taken away from the managers if they violate that trust and mismanage it.

They have violated that trust. Take the trust away and turn the management to the local communities and states.

They CAN NOT sell that land as long as it is held under a trust. It would take an act of the local/state and federal governments to sell that land. But, of course, with the slimey bunch in all government offices these days...

Just an observation..on my part.

I'm not a Trump fan...I think Trump voters will be extremely disappointed...down the road.

Just liked Trump Jr's...interview.

Here..I did go to the dpt of interior and the dam site locked up my PC. This from Wiki;

In the United States governmental entities including cities, counties, states, and the federal government all manage land which are referred to as either public lands or the public domain.

The majority of public lands in the United States are held in trust for the American people by the federal government and managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the United States National Park Service, Bureau of Reclamation, or the Fish and Wildlife Service under the Department of the Interior, or the United States Forest Service under the Department of Agriculture. Other federal agencies that manage public lands include the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the United States Department of Defense, which includes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.[4]

In general, Congress must legislate the creation of new public lands, such as national parks; however, under the 1906 Antiquities Act, the President may designate new national monuments without congressional authorization.
