Hispanic Conservatives: Cruz "Perhaps Worse" Than Trump
Texas Tribune ^ | Dec. 14, 2015 | Patrick Svitek

Posted on 02/21/2016 5:31:59 PM PST by ObamahatesPACoal

After meeting with Ted Cruz's presidential campaign, Hispanic conservative leaders are expressing concern that the Texas senator is in favor of "self-deportation," an immigration position that helped defeat the last Republican nominee.

Speaking with reporters Monday ahead of the fifth GOP debate, an influential group of Latino Republicans said campaign officials impressed upon them in a closed-door meeting that Cruz supports "attrition through enforcement." That view, one of the leaders said, assumes that once certain enforcement measures are put in place, "there'll be no need for legalization because there will be no undocumented immigrants in the country."

He has. It has repeatedly been part of his stump speech to say that he would “expedite” their return, asking he crowd if they understand what “expedite” means.

That is precisely what touchback amnesty is.

Maybe you haven’t listened to his live rallies, but he has been clear and specific.

Trump has certainly not ever used the term “touchback amnesty” not would he. He answered critics of his plan to deport millions of people saying that he would let the good ones back and try to expedite their return. This has not been part of any recent stump speeches that I have seen. He talks about “the wall” and getting Mexico to pay for it frequently.

He has not given any details at all about what he actually meant by saying he would expedite letting the “good ones” come back. He hasn’t said how it would be determined who the “good ones” were and if they would be let back in before the people who have now been on waiting lists for years for green cards. He basically hasn’t given any details, so there is no way to know what if any similarities this would have to what Cruz and his minions have been repeatedly referring to as “touchback amnesty” over and over and over and over again. I doubt whether other than a campaign slogan it has any relevant connection at all.

Obviously your experience doesn’t encompass much. Hell, I met her in the USA. A 4 day trip to Montreal is what caused it.
