It's a Sad Day in Bushville: Jeb's Family and Friends Rally Around Him After He Pulls Out of GOP Race.
Shortly after Jeb Bush announced his departure from the presidential race Saturday evening, brother George W. Bush issued a statement congratulating his younger sibling on his efforts â and for remaining above the fray in an unprecedented election cycle.
"Tonight I talked to my brother and congratulated him on his campaign for the Presidency," the 43rd president said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. "I told Jeb how proud I am of him and his staff for running a campaign that looked to the future, presented serious policy proposals, and elevated the tone of the race. "
The former governor of Florida announced plans to exit the race after he finished a disappointing fourth in the South Carolina Republican primary.
Jeb's voice broke Saturday when he announced his decision to suspend his campaign, telling supporters in South Carolina that "I'm proud of the campaign that we've run to unify our country ... but the people of Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken, and I really respect their decision."

so Jeb was so bad?....wait til you see the crap Trump will pull..Trump is not even half the conservative that Jeb is...
I liked Dubya....he was a leader, a man respected by the troops....
did I want another Bush? no...
but the thought of another Clintoon crook makes the thought of Jeb pale in comparison...
I hope Rubio can pull this out....he can actually beat Hitlery.
as a disclaimer, I pledge to vote for whoever the pub candidate is...unlike so many freepers who pouted and stomped their feet and elected bammy the muzzi goat boy a 2nd time...
Jeb, you should have listened to your mother. This country doesnât want another Bush in the White House. Ever.
No one on earth wants another President Bush.
N-O O-N-E
Jeb is really a pathetic individual. Trotting his 90 year old mother around in NH is well documented. Then he outdid himself in SC. He had absolutely no chance in SC, yet brings his brother, the former President out to campaign for him. How humiliating for a former President. Not only did Jeb lose, but he got 8%. Eight! But I have no sympathy for the Bushes. They are out of touch elitists who have been destroying this country for the past 36 years. Best to be rid of them for good.
I really don’t think Jeb could have been more out of sync this election cycle if he tried. Politics as usual isn’t cutting it with either party.
Jeb can now go back to peddling guac bowls ...he is so relieved that this is over
At least Jeb respected republicanism enough to tell voters the truth about his positions. I rejected many of his positions but ended with at least some respect for the man. He respected the Constitution enough to prioritize the right of the people to know the truth and choose for themselves.
Jeb knows the government belongs to “we the people” and not to whomever is clever enough to steal it. I respect him for that.
Jeb was as fake as a $3 bill. He thought nobody could see past it. He couldn’t see that 96% did; over and over.
I imaging he is still on the ballot in Nevada. Probably not enough time to take him off.
Jeb, tell us again about the many benefits of Common Core. You killed any chance of winning by shoving that nightmare down our throats. Enjoy your ignominy.
Honestly, his dad’s four years did absolutely nothing for him, either.
And his wife.
Jebs campaign was an act of love for his managers, media airtime companies and ad agencies.
And Santa Claus still comes down your chimney too, eh?
Don’t worry, Yeb. There’s always 2020.
that too. But people have short memories. W’s actions are still being felt. Dad’s read my lips is a distant memory to many. Many more weren’t even born.
Go have your conversation with Terri Schiavo.
She is our designated intercessor for ppeople upset about Jeb! being mistreated is some way.
She will get back to us with one hundred percent of your valid points.
