I was a GI brat till 1968, when my father retired.
Military base housing, at that time, was the social experiment, considering this was before all the race riots, with all the different ethnic folks, and their foreign wives.
Couldn’t be any more American than that, now, could we?
I DID learn about kimchi, sushi, sauerbraten, haggis, gefilte fish, paella, gyros-souvlakis, plum pudding, and all within a 3 block distance from my house!
