I don’t think Cruz’s loss had anything to do with Cruz. People are looking for a Messiah. And people have decided that Trump is the guy they perceive will be the one to save the country. There is a tendency in people to put their trust in the arm of flesh.

What it boils down to is that unless Cruz or Rubio or anyone else can convince the voters that they are the Messiah for the country, then Trump is going to sail into the nomination. It doesn’t matter what Donald Trump’s positions are, people want to believe that he will Make America Great Again. So they will put their trust in him.

When we get to the general, it will be a contest between whether people want to keep the status quo or move into unknown territory.

Anyone proposing “change” needs to realize that more than half the country is getting checks from the taxpayers. Anyone proposing to take that away or rock that boat is going to have a tough time against anyone promising to increase or expand the benefits.

“Make America Great Again” is a great slogan. But will the slogan be enough to beat the democrats? I’m not too optimistic. Trump’s negatives are double his positives. Thirty percent of the people like him, everybody else hates him and he certainly isn’t making any political allies in this race.

Did you read Steve Deace’s piece? I kinda feel that way. There’s nothing we can do about where this country is headed politically. It’s a spiritual war. It’s in God’s hands, and by God, I don’t mean Trump. We have to keep that in mind.

I think Cruz' third place finish in South Carolina has everything to do with Cruz. His supporters may be looking for another messiah (for example, TrusTed is very telling). It seems to me Trump's voters are looking for another Nehemiah, albeit without the religious pedigree, who will build a wall and defend our borders. The slogan for Trump is Make America Great Again, very telling when jusxtaposed with Cruz' campaign slogan. Talk about a cult of personality alarm bell.
