It’s an open primary. Whatever your registration you can vote in the primary. So the percentage of Republicans voting is unknown.

602,166 votes were cast in the 2012 SC Republican primary.

So this year was definitely much higher.

It is an open primary, right? So the stats are not necessarily Republican, at least not entirely.

I think that Trump has out smarted himself by smearing Cruz. The Insiders are counting on Rubio getting all the Bush, Carson and Kasich votes and beating Trump.

It will be Trump’s fault, he smeared the wron candidate.

Yes it was an open primary. Yes many Democrats and Independents could have voted in the GOP. If so they gave up a chance to vote for Hillary or Bernie next week. Maybe it wasn’t them attempting an Operation Chaos but people who are truly wanting to make a change in the way the country is oibg.

Something’s off. Showing 570k total votes in GOP primary. There were 605k voters in the 2012 GOP primary. Not a record. Short by 45k votes.

I can't find any stats about the population of Republican voters so I wonder ...

Try this...Voter History Statistics for Recent SC Elections

Select the 2014 party primary registration counts.

Here is the main statistics page... SCVotes.org Statistics
