99.9 % reporting in and the total number of votes is 737,213
I can't find any stats about the population of Republican voters so I wonder ...
Something’s off. Showing 570k total votes in GOP primary. There were 605k voters in the 2012 GOP primary. Not a record. Short by 45k votes.
Hayes has done some great reporting but as he has ventured more into punditry he has become an annoying Brit Hume Junior, lashing out at Trump.
DC journalists are no different to DC politicians and bureaucrats...they all have their little fiefdoms and leak networks they’ve spent much time and our money to build. The leakers get to divert or halt things they don’t like and the writers get a pat on the head for ‘exposing’ that which they were handed on a platter.
Hayes and others risk having to work for stories and losing their highly placed sugar daddies of information. No wonder he’s angry.
But Hillary will still act like the Queen bottlefly of the landfill dungheap.
Trump is going to eat her from the cankles up. One bite. 1980 Deja vu all over again.
The obvious question is, how many crosdover voters are trying to play a game and how many actually intend to vote for Trump? This could be an indication of an iminent Trump general election landslide victory...or not. As the race goes on, it will be more clear.
South Carolina is a modified winner-take-all by Congressional District.
50 Delegates.
Trump, as statewide winner, gets 29 delegates.
Winner of Congressional District gets 3 delegates.
Seven CD's. Trump wins them all for 21 delegates.
So... Trump wins all 50 delegates.
It wasn't long ago that Cruz was bragging that SC was his state. He's damaged goods because of the campaign tactics, and it showed today.
That’s true. Also at question is, do people respond truthfully to those surveys? Probably most do. But if you are trying to be a party-pooper who knows, since dishonesty is already your main point of participation.
Overall I think open primaries are very unfair to the rest of us.
It'll be very interesting to see the Dem turnout in SC. Don't be surprised if it's as low as it was in Nevada. Plenty of Dems are turned off by Hillary trying to out left Bernie. It creates a perfect climate for them to cross-over to Trump.
Who is Dondi?
I completely agree.
I broke a pledge to myself and flipped over tonight to see reactions, and their analysis and view of the election and of the electorate is just absurd.
Karl Rove has lost all his marbles.
I saw a lady Mary Ann on Judge Jeanine Show that the Democrats were down 30% on turnout and GOP is setting records
I think that Trump has out smarted himself by smearing Cruz. The Insiders are counting on Rubio getting all the Bush, Carson and Kasich votes and beating Trump.
It will be Trump’s fault, he smeared the wron candidate.
“NY Values” ring any bells? It was Cruz who started the mud slinging, FRiend.
You can write back to Team Cruz and tell them to drop that attack line, Trump won every demographic. So “Cross over voters” did not win this for Trump. You lost everywhere. No won “stole” it from you
Van Jones, liberal black democrat commentator on CNN was talking about this tonight.
The D's are very worried about what they're seeing. Record turnouts in the three early states for R's. Lackluster turnout for D's.
All the energy is on the R side. To vote in primary, those Independents must register as R... and once they get used to pulling the R lever... not good news for D's.
It's not just about how it might shape this primary; it might be setting the stage for a general election D debacle.
It's one of the reasons that I think the "establishment" is more than happy to have this tight race go on, and I bet they secretly get on their knees in gratitude that Trump is bringing new voters into the Republican fold.
Yep Rove really embarrassed himself saying if he were advising Trump “he would be worried after tonight”.
Rove, just go away. Rove, you are an idiot, wrapped in stupidity and surrounded by ignorance. Rove, you are a foul smell that lingers and lingers and lingers. Rove, you are far past your “best buy date” and need to be retired to the ash heap of history.
Actually, Cruz won those who identify as very conservative.
That & $3 buys a cup of coffee. Cruz needed to expand his support base and he never did. He’s solidly 3rd now with Rubio picking up Jeb supporters. I don’t see a path to the nom for Cruz. He’s purely a Trump spoiler at this point. Sorry.
Only problem for this “analysis” is Trump would be doing far worse in the polling in closed primary states then open primary states. He isn’t. Trump does well in both sets of states so the idea “cross over” voters are carrying Trump does not hold any water.
