Cruz challenges Trump's 'make America great again' slogan
Washington Examiner ^ | 2/19/2016 | Ryan Lovelace

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on Friday challenged the premise of Donald Trump's promise to "make America great again," and asked if Trump knows how America ever became great in his closing pitch to South Carolinians.

Speaking in Myrtle Beach, Cruz launched into an extended diatribe about what he perceived as Trump's lackluster position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He followed it up with a list of Cruz's campaign promises and a stinging rebuke of Trump's singular message.

"We will see the economy explode, small businesses grow, young people coming out of school with three, four, five job opportunities. Wages going up. You know what? We're going to be winning so much we'll get tired of winning," Cruz said, mimicking Trump's message. "It's easy to say let's Make America Great Again, you can even print that on a baseball cap. The question to ask is, do you understand what made America great in the first place?"

So you can’t defend Cruz; you can only copy and paste an apostrolypse of talking points.

Remember the phrase, you can’t beat something with nothing?

Well, Trump is the something. Your lack of defense of Cruz seems to indicate that he is the nothing.

It goes both ways.

absolutely. And anyone demeaning, or name calling, or using vile attacks, on BOTH sides of the aisle needs called out I feel.

I have always tried to answer with integrity. I confess I haven't always measured up, but in the 15 or so years I've been here I've always tried to speak with integrity and respect.

I've seen a LOT of our FREEPERS stoop to levels I've never thought I would read here. DU yes... FreeRepublic no.

Ted Cruz has a proven record of standing up for the Constitution, fighting for our conservative principles. Tramp has a proven record of doing the opposite.

Hey look, another copy/paste response!

Or as Shakespeare said, “Words, words, words.”

Are you going to elaborate on that record? The record that was tainted forever when he voted on cloture for TPA? The record that can’t be added to because he’s done little but campaign for President the entire time he’s been in the Senate?

No? Just claim that he ‘has’ one? Attack Trump again?

Then Ted is the nothing.

Bye-bye.

Who led the fight to defund Obamacare? To stop the Gang of Eight? And on many other things?

Ted Cruz.

Actually more and more of the Republican base is thinking the real agenda of Ted to make America great again is to pick up a snake in each hand and looking up in the sky then start to shriek, Let’s Shake America’s Snake Again.

“Cruz wrote the amicus brief for the 31 States...”

Correct:

Wiki: “In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz drafted the amicus brief signed by the attorneys general of 31 states, which said that the D.C. handgun ban should be struck down as infringing upon the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Cruz also presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.”

What I find interesting is how for somebody that “nobody gets along with” and “hasn’t accomplished anything” - how Cruz was was able to put together something that all 31 states agreed to. I am guessing that all the state’s had their own little versions of what they wanted to see in the brief.

Who utterly failed to defund Obamacare? Who failed to stop the Gang of Eight in the Senate and was only saved because the heroes in Virginia primaried Cantor out and scared the House?

Ted Cruz.

Yeah, REAL nice list of accomplishments there.

The incessant quarreling by, between, and about Trump and Cruz is becoming increasingly tiresome to watch and listen to, rather like a husband and wife who insist on subjecting their friends to their bickering. Either Trump or Cruz would be superior as president to any of the other candidates, whether Republican or Democrat. Considering the dangerous state of decline of our country, my own preference would be for the bellicose, bellowing, bull moose that Donald Trump appears to be, rather than the more cerebral approach of Ted Cruz. Since they appear to complement each other in these respects, it’s too bad they can’t join forces for the good of the country. I hope that will still be possible if one eventually becomes the nominee.

How did that Sarah Palin endorsement for Trump in Iowa work out?

Without the tacky Ted tricks, good, actually. Only one more delegate than Trump, and the cheaTED label firmly attached, to Ted.

How did that Sarah Palin endorsement for CRuz in Texas work out?

It’s none of a canuck’s business how an America wants to make America great again. Take your ass back home to Canadian. You’re welcome is worn out. I’d I were you I’d be checking for immigration agents, because you certainly don’t have proof you’re in this country legally.

Lying Rafael as of tonight has a robocall up and going in SC telling everyone that if you vote for Trump he’ll cave into the LBGT community and all the bathrooms in America’s schools will have perverts going in them. Says Trump loves homosexuals and anything to do with perversion. Robo call ends by saying “we are a Christian people, do we want someone like this leading this country”?

Lying Rafael is a pathological liar that if he doesnt get help soon just might do something drastic after Trump beats his ass tomorrow in the primary. The man ain’t playing with a full deck. Has he done anything in his life he’s proud of. Why can’t he talk about what he wants to do for American instead of lying about each and every candidate left in the race, especially Trump.

In addition to his victory in Heller, Cruz has successfully defended the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools and the majority of the 2003 Texas redistricting plan....

That's all wonderful, but if our nation continues to be flooded with foreign invaders and our economy collapses, none of these "accomplishments" will be worth a bucket of warm spit. Ted has betrayed American workers (TPA, H-1B) and when the Pope attacked America's right to secure her border, Ted was silent.
