Manny Pacquiao posts Bible verse that states gay people should be killed [Luke 6]
Los Angeles Times ^ | 2/18/2016 | Chuck Schilken

Manny Pacquiao is not backing down from his stance against homosexuality. Less than a day after the Filipino boxer and politician lost his sponsorship deal with Nike because he compared gay people to animals, Pacquiao took to Instagram early Thursday morning and posted some Bible verses that support his views. One of them, Leviticus 20:13, states in no uncertain terms that homosexuals should be killed:

"If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Pacquiao's post was up for about two hours and got more than 18,000 likes before being deleted. The Filipino news agency ABS-CBN captured a screenshot of the post before it was removed. Pacquiao, a member of the Philippines' House of Representatives, included other Bible verses in his post, including Luke 6:22-23, an apparent reference to his current situation:

"Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets."

Pacquiao was one of several candidates for the Philippine Senate who recently were asked their views on same-sex marriage during a recent interview broadcast by the Filipino television network TV5...

“the bible SAYS they do and there is no update”

At the time these things were revealed to Noah, no scriptures existed. But the Law of Moses has application to other nations than Israel. Homosexual sex acts were among the sins called an abomination and which incur God’s wrath no matter what nation the offenders are part of:

Leviticus 18:24-30
Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you. For whoever commits any of these abominations, the persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people. Therefore you shall keep My ordinance, so that you do not commit any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves by them: I am the Lord your God.

Committing such acts are the legal basis for being “cut off” from “their” people, not just the nation of Israel.

The application of the law to the whole world for exposing sin is confirmed in the New Testament:

Romans 3:19
Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

“I will see every single one, showing you are a hypocrite... YOU are the one involved in evil imagination.”

You are lashing out in a very unloving way for someone who just attacked Manny for posting scripture, and claimed he was wrong and that his approach was unloving. So you might want to rethink hurling accusations like hypocrisy.

But if you want specific scriptures, I will give them.

Acts 25:11
For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar.

Romans 1:32
who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

Romans 13:4
For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

1 Timothy 1:8-10
But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine.

Of course I am not even including the numerous times that Christ and his apostles specifically addressed to whole category of sins under the term “fornication”, and specifically named Sodom and the sin of Sodom as a category of sin that cries to the Heavens for judgment.

And even a punishment far worse than the death penalty is prescribed:

Revelation 21:8
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

“Also what do you do with ‘Beloved do not seek your own vengeance’?”

Romans 12:19
Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

How does God carry out His vengeance? He may do it however He chooses. At some future point it will be a worldwide outpouring of Divine wrath similar in nature to the fire that destroyed Sodom. But for now, He often uses human government:

Romans 13:4
For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

“And if you quote Romans 13 surely you don’t mean the answer to every traffic offense should also be beheading.”

That has got to be the mother of all straw men there. You are insinuating that because I support the death penalty for murder, kidnapping, gang rape, and other biblically named capital crimes that I favor death for parking offenses. However, vehicular homicide, perhaps.

Now I did not say the US should make homosexual sex a capital crime. What I said was that the Bible agrees with Manny’s position that these acts deserve death. The Bible goes further and says the “wages of sin is death”. Homosexual acts and fornication in general are sins that will lead people to hell. Salvation from sin presupposes a recognition that there is sin and a need for being saved from the wrath these sins warrant.

People are often indifferent to the Gospel of Jesus because they are unaware that they need repentance. The proclamation of God’s righteousness and His wrath upon sin is necessary to bring people to Christ. It is NOT the Gospel. But it is the prerequisite knowledge of sin that makes the Gospel understandable.

The modern feel-good Gospel message that leaves out sin and the need for repentance is the real danger, rather than calling sin what the Bible calls it, and declaring the judgment that God has already declared is deserved for it.

Acts 17:30
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.

Yeah. Their lifestyle is not how things were intended, and there’s consequences to that.

And then when you take into account meth fueled group sex parties and other things that they do where they apparently purposely have sex with aids infected persons, you kinda get the feeling that some of these guys are purposely racing as fast as they can down a dead end street.

What faith do you belong to?! That is a bizarre doctrine. Christ wasn’t even born until all those generations later. Does your faith discount the lineage/ genealogy from David to Jesus Christ?

That’s the way I see it, too. (But for the Grace Of God- it could be any of us). The greatest commandment is to Love one another, according to the Lord. That’s not the same as condoning or enabling or whatever.

Me, too re taking flak.
I’ve read your page. A couple of times. It’s excellent.
(Sometimes, people can’t seem to get their heads around being Saved By Grace rather than somehow ‘’deserving’’ it. I do, too, even after all these years & have to remind myself sometimes. We live in a merit based world, so it’s an unconscious habit.)

I guess so. That’s when it gets tough for me. When people try to exploit the Lord, it’s sometimes hard for me to resist the urge to ‘straighten them out’. lol I get all How dare you?!

What do you mean? Most Muslims love sodomy. It is an integral part of Islamic manhood. It is only the feminine homosexuals that they persecute. That said, God’s word has not changed. The wages of sin is still death. Some sins have a greater penalty on this earth than others. But Jesus Christ did die for our sins to save us from eternal judgement.

Yes, Mother Teresa was incredibly wise on topic of life/abortion. Have you read her prayer breakfast speech?

I think you knocked it out of the park with that post!

There’s a way to deal with sin without sounding and acting like an over-pious hypocrite.

My sin is no less than theirs. My FR name comes from this passage of scripture. It has always made an impact on my life. We serve such a humble King. Good stuff rah-dere. lol

Matt20:26-28
...whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Wonderful scripture to lead your life by.

I notice with myself (and probably most people) that PRIDE is the biggest SIN I have. Being a friend to others, to strangers, and being humble & kind, hard stuff to do—but when we do act like this the reward is tremendous.

And YES! What a Mighty King we serve!
