One thing that is happening in college these days, the pendulum is swinging back. Colleges are getting much tougher since about last summer. Everyone is done with the clapping for credits routine. College admissions are down and the value of the college degree is down. Defaults on loans are staggering. College has become a joke.

To counter that, colleges are going old-school. No more Masters teaching Bachelors. Doctorate is required. No more “professor” title for anyone not a PhD, having published at least twice per year, and a full time professor. “Instructor” is the title otherwise used.

Some colleges are going back to attendance required.

I could go on, but the pressure on colleges is working.

Maybe an obligatory two years of military service prior to college would toughen them up.

Our military these days is as emasculated and PC as any college campus.
