America’s greatest alliance is about to end with a whimper (NATO Vs Turkey Vs Russia)

Turkey says the Kurds are allied with the butcher of Damascus, Bashar al-Assad — the man whose power Russia fights to preserve.

The Turks are angry with us for supporting the Kurds, but it’s Russia’s air bombardments that keep them awake at night. Putin, meanwhile, won’t easily forget that Turkey shot down a Russian plane earlier this winter, and now tells pilots not to await orders when they encounter suspicious aircraft near the Syrian-Turkish border.

If Turkey moves out of her borders and strikes first NATO’s Article 5 would not apply in that case.

God willing, the Russians will parade in Constantinople! Sad we won’t be marching with them!

**God willing, the Russians will parade in Constantinople.**

I like envisioning such a scene.

Dear Turkish Friends, Choosing to cast away ninety years of Ataturk’s secular government and society in a fit of jihadist zeal has its cost. So long and dasvidaniya.

http://greece.greekreporter.com/2015/11/25/some-greeks-turn-to-elder-paisios-prophecies-on-russia-turkey-conflict/

The ascetic monk Paisios, who became Saint Paisios by the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church in January, was known for his prophecies and predictions. One of them was that Istanbul, once the capital of the Byzantine Empire Constantinople, will become Greek again.

Specifically, Paisios wrote: “Events will start that will culminate with us taking back Constantinople. Constantinople will be given to us. There will be war between Russia and Turkey. In the beginning the Turks will believe they are winning, but this will lead to their destruction. The Russians, eventually, will win and take over Constantinople. After that it will be ours. They will be forced to give it to us.”

The text reads further, “(The Turks) will be destroyed. They will be eradicated because they are a nation that was built without God’s blessing. One third of the Turks will go back to where they came from, the depths of Turkey. One third will be saved because they will become Christians, and the other third will be killed in this war.” This is based on the Saint Kosmas prophecy.

.. Americas greatest alliance ..

How ridiculous.

With Erdogan the new Muhammad Morsi support for Turkey is more liability, than alliance. And at what cost? Alienating Russia, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Israel, the Kurds. .. Kerry's not the first ditherer to realize too late, that realpolitik abhors a vacuum.

A direct appeal to secular Turks by far the best of the West's limited options. It worked with Egypt.

I read a headline today saying the Turks were making trenches in Syria territory.

'Choosing'?

What about AKP's vote rigging?

Russia has only a handful of troops - special forces an an air expeditionary force in Syria. So Turkey moving into Syria may lead to Russia using a tactical nuke on the battlefield - if we are lucky - because the scenarios get worse the more I war game it in my head.

NATO should have ended when the Warsaw Pact did.

It was created for a specific threat, and was an alliance on convenience, not some brotherhood of strong, freedom-loving countries. Hell most of them couldn’t even stop an invasion from another member.

In this instance a whimper might be better than a BANG.

Erdogan is a special type of stupid. He supports ISIS knowing full well that ISIS is a global enemy. In this sense, the enemy of my enemy isn’t my friend, but also my enemy.

They're thinking it will be effective because it worked for them during the Dardanelles Campaign ca. 1915.

What about AKP's vote rigging?

We have a saying coined by our former Secretary of State that might apply, "At this point what difference does it make?" The Nazis came into power with around 30% of the German people behind them. It didn't make much difference once the bullets and bombs started flying.

Why exactly would Putin be forced to give it to the bankrupt Greeks? They'd have to pawn it to Germany the next day anyway.
