The Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, has issued a clarification regarding the Pope's remarks to journalists Thursday, when he said, in answer to a question about Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, that a person who only thinks of building walls and not about building bridges is no Christian.

Waiting for the pope or a cardinal to excommunicate Pelosi and the other abortionists.

He’s a commie, hypocrite, inside-the-39ft-walls-everything-provided-for-him cult of personality.

To quote a Thomas Train line, “it was toooo late”.

Waiting for the pope or a cardinal to excommunicate Pelosi and the other abortionists.

That decades-long hesitation is very difficult for an Evangelical Christian, an outsider, to accept.

Trump is dealing with this the same way any decent guy would handle a crazy old woman.

The Pope gave the United States the finger when he did his little speech right on the border.

It was shameful.

AND NO, Pope Francis - we will NOT take the surplus people authoritarian culture produce. That's NOT our job or responsibility. Talk to the elites in Mexico - the ones propped up by the criminal and underclass... Tell them to 'get real'... Tell them they're NOT CHRISTIAN.

http://catholicphilly.com/2016/02/news/world-news/transcript-of-press-conference-with-pope-francis/

That’s the whole press thing on the plane back to Rome, not a speech. The part about Trump a reporter asked:

“Today you spoke a lot and eloquently about the problem of immigrants. On the other side of the border there is an electoral campaign that is rather hard. One of the candidates for the White House, Donald Trump, in a recent interview said that you are a political man, and indeed perhaps a pawn of the Mexican Government when it comes to the policy of immigration. He said that if he were elected president he would build a 2,500-km wall along the border. He wants to deport 11 million illegal immigrants and, in that way separating families and so on. I would therefore like to ask, first of all, what you think of those charges against you, and if an American Catholic could vote for a person like this?

Thank God he said I am a politician because Aristotle defined the human person as an ‘animal politicus’ [a political animal]. So at least I am a human person. As to whether I am a pawn, well, maybe, I don’t know. I’ll leave that up to your judgement and that of the people. And then, a person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not in the gospel. As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that. I say only that this man is not Christian if he says things like that. We must see if he said things in that way and in this I give the benefit of the doubt.”

Last August, Trump told Chuck Todd on Meet the Press that he was against splitting up families and deporting children. "No, we're going to keep the families together. We have to keep the families together," Trump said. "So the Pope was misled," Donahue said.

Here's a flash Donahue... the people breaking up Hispanic families are liberal elite democrats. Unaccompanied children are crossing the border and rather than sending these children back to their parents, they are lost in the system... my guess is a fair number of them wind up in Chicago whore houses.

So if the good Pope cares about families NOT being torn asunder, he should ask Obama to RETURN unaccompanied children to their parents in Mexico and South American.(on our dime is fine with me....)

Thank you. That was helpful and appreciated.

Had the news been delivered to DT yesterday in the manner you just posted here, then Trump may have responded differently, more like he is responding today.

Thank you very much for that.

I was, however, seeking the English text of his speech. to the Mexicans on the podium in Mexico at the border.

Again, thank you

As a resident of El Paso area, I am grateful that the event happened without the Cartel having gang fights as they had threatened to do.
It is not unusual for rounds fired in Juarez to injure people in E P.
It is a royal mess.

The Pope is a Peronista ...

...a fellow traveler of Juan Peron. Don’t make it harder than it is.

In your photo posted, at least those were empty crosses and not crucifixes with Jewish-Americans strung up.

(FOUR crosses?)

Haven't yet found a translation of his speech yet, can't wait to read that.

I'd like to see the original transcript...its not like the Pope was speaking Chinese.

I'd also like to know the name of the journalist and the publication he works for, as I suspect this question was planted.

Great minds think alike.

This would never have happened if Father Quido Sarducci was still the editor of “The Vatican Tattler.”.

I remember his skit about a “Pope in a Pizza” contest. Great stuff.

***“So the Pope was misled,” Donahue said.***

This pope is misled about a number of things. For starters, that capitalism keeps the poor down.

I saw a Catholic Church guy on TV last night, essentially saying that the Pope was kind of set up by the question, and that the media didn't report his answer accurately.

I have to say that the guy made a good case. The Pope's comments were qualified with some "if's" that aren't applicable to Trump or anyone else running. Somebody wanted to make this a much bigger issue than it should have been.
