For a more anecdotal reference, speak with anyone who went to Iraq in 1991/1992 (DESERT STORM) and was on the front lines. You’ll find that chemical alarms were constantly going off after Scud or artillery shell impacts. Furthermore, a large number of soldiers and marines in tactical units came home and exhibited highly unusual and debilitating symptoms after their return and many had children post-DESERT STORM that had very unusual birth defects, but “no chemical weapons were used on US troops” - which is pure BS.
If there’s a criticism to be had of both Bush 41 and Bush 43, it’s that they did NOT acknowledge the use and presence of chemical weapons, which is preventing a number of veterans from getting the proper treatment, i.e., if “there were no chemical weapons”, how can they be treated for them?

This “No WMDs in Iraq” nonsense is just as stupid as the widespread claim that “Iraq was not a sponsor of international terrorism and had no relationship to Al Qaeda”. Iraq was sponsoring international terrorism almost immediately after Saddam came to power in 1979 and had extensive relationships with numerous terrorist organizations.
I guess that didn’t answer your question directly, but I did point out in my prior post that “When they (WMDs and precursors) or the remnants thereof were found, albeit in limited numbers, the president made a conscious decision not to reopen the public discussion on WMDs in Iraq.”
I was detailed (not a political appointee) to the White House as a CT/intelligence advisor at the time; I was there during this discussion.
The United States was misled in colon powell being promoted to the upper ranks. This affirmative-action race-baiter is a big nothing.
To me, Bush lied about it from the side of having found them and not admitting it.
To Trump, Bush knew from the beginning they weren’t there as proven to him by comments such as Powell’s.
He also thinks he lied.
Did the president ever have a press release claiming that WMDs were found and his position had been validated?
So they don’t exist if someone doesn’t admit to them?
So, why did Bush deceive by not admitting they had found WMDs?
Did you not just admit:"Let's start this over. 1. We found WMDs" and "I've always admitted that we did."?

No, Trump’s premise is the same as Powell’s, that there were no WMD.
Nothing found in Iraq constituted a threat to US national security...the chemical weapons you refer to were leaking leftovers from the 1980s. I don’t think the US even bothered getting rid of them after the invasion.
The lie the Bush administration told (imo) was that a pre-emptive strike on a sovereign nation was necessary because US national security was threatened...with ginned up evidence to make it look like there was an active nuclear weapons program.
Whether or not GWB knowingly lied to the American people about Iraq or simply got fooled by more agile minds within the government is an open question.
It is also worth noting that Bush himself admits after the fact that no WMDs were found.

IOW, GW himself says from the White House that Saddam did not have WMDs. He says it in public, out loud, and broadcast across the nation.
