I was shocked that Trump repeated a lie.
The only question for Trump is whether or not Powell said what he said.
We can pick Powell apart all we want, we can refuse to let our daughters date him, we can dump garbage on his grave some day, BUT that doesn’t change the fact that he said he was lied to by the Bush administration intel community.
Nor does it mean that Trump MADE UP his belief that the Bush administration lied about his stuff.

Correct, I do think it is important that some of the information regarding WMD’s and chemical weapons was top secret and may very well still be as the Middle East has now exploded into something far more dangerous with Islamic factions having confirmation that stuff was/is there. WOWzee can you imagine all those tribal leaders going after that stuff!!!
Bush didn’t say anything most likely because he couldn’t as an revelation of WMD’s being FOUND, could lead or could have led to a war we really didn’t want to face.
I find it amazing the number of folks not thinking clearly regarding these matters, when just a few short years ago they saw the pictures of the trucks etc. with their own eyes!
Lastly, since Iraq appeared to being heading to a mess if Obama was elected, anyone ever consider the interview by Powell may have been disinformation?
I do not wish to go any farther with a longtime FRiend than to say that the point is that Trump didn’t make it up; that Colin Powell actually did indicate that he was lied to by the Bush Administration intel community.

Please - no one ever said Saddam did not ever have chemical weapons - at the time of the invasion we were told (whether to call it a lie or not is up to the individual's POV) that Iraq restarted their WMD program anew - emphasis on "anew".

He was a very capable officer.
However, that doesn’t change the fact that Trump did not make up out of thin air his statement that the Bush administration lied.
Bush’s own Secretary of State was saying the same thing years ago.

The past few days have been nothing but mindlessly parroting the code pink Micheal Moore talking points of “bush lied” and “no WMD found”.
We did find them, too bad honesty is lacking on that.

Cult of personality? It wasn’t Trump supporters who closed their eyes and shouted la la la la while Ted Cruz campaigned for Barack Obama for a month to pass Obama’s legacy trade agenda. Only Pastor Ted’s “cult of personality” flock did that. There is nothing principled or conservative about enabling the most lawless POTUS in history yet Ted Cruz did it.

I know somebody that served under him many years ago and his opinion was substantially less than “capable officer”.
Trump absolutely has a leg to stand on, Powell is not the only one on the record stating that intelligence known to be faulty or unreliable was presented as fact.
Was Bush personally aware of this? That’s up in the air, but there is no doubt that folks in his administration knowingly were less than honest about things leading up to the war in Iraq.
I know if I was in Bush’s seat I am sure I would have personally made the same decision with the information given to the public. Hopefully I would have a been a bit wiser in my decisions after the active war was effectively over.... because that’s where Iraq was lost.
I’m pretty sure that GW Bush himself is on tape someplace saying that WMDs were not found.
We know that for some crazy reason Bush decided not to have the back of his own friends.
Perhaps he meant something else by WMD stockpiles. Who knows?
All I know is that Bush DID NOT have our backs.
I know that Powell is on record on Meet the Press of all all places saying that he was lied to by the intel community on this subject.
So, if someone wants me to say that Trump made it up or is a fanatic or is an ugly slob, all I can say is that he HEARD it from a reliable source, and he cannot be faulted if he believed it.
