If these birthers actually read the constitution they claim to be so concerned about, they would find out that the only body that has "standing" to determine the eligibility of Ted Cruz is Congress.
But they hate Cruz more than they love the Constitution.
Exactly ..and he didn’t help himself when he attacked Trump’s mother .. big mistake ...Cruz is persona non grata in Trump world ...Cruz sure knows how to burn bridges, and I must say, it’s a big disappointment ...
No. Everyone knows that makes you a communist.
Hello from the Olympic Penninsula !
LOL, no they won't.
I predict that this will go no where, however there will always be that uncertainty that Cruz may be dual citizen, or Canadian, or whatever. But it’s not going to go anywhere.
Hello from the Olympic Penninsula !
HELLO from Eastern Washington...perhaps the last bastion of common sense in this crazy state!
That is absolutely not the truth.
While Congress does have that power too, the States have the power to determine who gets on their ballot as long as those rules do not violate the constitution.
In all cases where a state is not in agreement with the Federal Government, the Supreme Court is the arbiter under Original Jurisdiction.
For instance, a state can have their delegates chosen not by election, but by a vote of the legislature. They can also force every candidate to obtain thousands of signatures of registered voters. They can prevent a convicted felon from access to the ballot, and prevent their vote.
If a state believes Cruz not eligible, they can deny access. Cruz's only recourse would be a USSC decision.
But he can be AG or SCOTUS.
Still gotta have standing. According to the rules they've beaten us over the head with regarding Obama, "citizens" don't have "standing" to sue, because they do not have a direct "injury" as a result of a non eligible candidate winning an election.
I'm going to assume the courts will be too embarrassed to suddenly decide that Cruz opponents will have more standing than Obama's opponents, but who knows. Consistency is not a requirement in our modern judiciary.
Cruz's opponents have 50 opportunities.
You would think so, but the last ruling I paid any attention to said that states are not required to vet candidates. :) Seems like utter nonsense to me, but that's why these judges draw the big bucks. :)
4-4.
Well if you did the same, you’d know what the congress would say, if it were honest.
Besides, what would happen really if your situation came to pass?
If Cruz was President then the SC rules he wasn’t eligible that would be a huge huge huge problem, the entire election would have to be redone. At that point it would be way way way too much of a hassle and it won’t even go that far.
If Cruz is the nominee I will vote for him, if Trump is the nominee I will vote for him.
It’s all good once you’re out of Seattle.
Cruz is technically not running for president right now. He is running to represent a slate of delegates to the Republican convention.
BTW Cruz is eligible. Get over it.
Would you accept a Supreme Court ruling that Ted Cruz is eligible? Or would you complain about it?
and if Trump wins the nomination, they’re gonna pursue all kinds of unsavory facts about Trump like crazed jackals.
Cruz doesn’t talk much about standing....he confronts the issue. Get your facts straight so that your opinions have a chance....
attacked Trump’s mother? WTF are you talking about?
you know any Slaugenhopts from the dry shitties...I mean the tri cities?
