Cruz Says He Hasn't Attacked His Colleagues, Despite Attacking His Colleagues
Weekly Standard ^ | 2/18/2016 | SHOSHANA WEISSMANN

Posted on 02/18/2016 2:34:55 PM PST by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

During Wednesday night's CNN Republican Town Hall, Cruz was asked about his relationship with his colleagues. "From time to time, we see articles written in the paper or on television that you don't get along with some of the Republican senators--your colleagues in Washington. If you are going to have a problem with them, what are you going to say to them as president to get them on board so that we can get legislation passed?"

In his answer, Cruz explained, "it's not that I speak with a lack of civility or respect, I mean you have seen in the presidential campaign as other people insult me, impune my integrity, I don't respond in kind. The Bible talks about if someone treats you unkindly, repay them with kindness. It's like heaping coals on the top of their head. That has been the standard I have tried to follow, that's how I have approached it in the Senate. So, I have not attacked or insulted my colleagues in the senate, Democrat or Republican. even if I disagree with them on the issues."

Cruz went on to say that people say he's unlikeable because he honors "the commitments that I made to the women and men who elected me."

However, Cruz has not only attacked his colleagues, but his attacks have helped him gain support of those disenchanted with the Republican establishment.

Last July, Cruz called Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a liar. "What we just saw today was an absolute demonstration that not only what he told every Republican senator, but what he told the press over and over and over again, was a simple lie." In October, he also called McConnell, "the most effective Democratic leader in modern times."

I’d look for a little more backup than “wicked Wikipedia” but it needs consideration.

Now, nobody has ever shown that Ted (the son) has bought into his dad’s quite unbiblical (and not shared by most Baptist congregations’) wishes in this vein. But that can’t be an influence to utterly ignore, either.

We’d like to know, at the least, what this “face of God” intends to look like.

Back and forth on issues seem logical and fair in the forum, but attacks based on who has been on FR longest aren’t. I hope that isn’t what you meant.

unconvinced anyone else can win the General Election but TRUMP.

Yet those same polls show that TRUMP loses the general election to Clinton by a serious margin, while Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich all BEAT Clinton.

And this is before the news media turns against Trump and becomes full-time anti-Trump.

You are so ignorant that it is becoming sad. Cruz is not winning the easiest state for him South Carolina......he can’t win if you can’t win an easy state tailored for him. Just can’t.

So, calling a liar a liar is “attacking”? If that’s the case, we need a lot more of it.

Every time the press has dumped on Trump, Trump has gained. If they haven’t learned to stop doing that (fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly) then they will keep on helping Trump by illustrating all the things that the public loves Trump to hate about the press.

At this time yes.

You said:

Cruz has turned into the most unethical person in the history of the United States.

I ask again...

More unethical than Hillary? More unethical than Bill Clinton? More unethical than Harry Reid? More unethical than Chick Shumer? More unethical than Eric Holder? More unethical than Charlie Rangel? More unethical than Al Sharpton?

How is calling a someone out for lying an attack. All he said was that what McConnell told him wasn’t true, which was the truth.

Cruz, to McConnell is there a deal in place to renew the Import-Export Bank

McConnell to Cruz, there is no deal, there is no deal, there is no deal.

Later Cruz finds out that there is a deal in place to renew the IM-EX bank, and that McConnell lied, and in any other circumstance Cruz would be the hero because he exposed the corruption in Washington. Yet because the powerful Donald is running, Cruz is the bad guy for what if it had happened 100 years ago, 10 years ago, next year, or 100 years from now,he would be the hero. What’s changed is it the specifics of what happened, the people involved, the principle, or just who happens to be running against Cruz.

If you are going to accuse Cruz of personal attacks at least try to use an instance where he actually may have done it. Because to call someone out for their lies, and calling someone a liar are two different things. The thing that separates them is the truth.

Easiest state for him to win?

You are nuts. An open primary where Dems can run their own operation chaos is supposed to be Cruz's easiest? Makes me wonder just whose side you are on. Stealth Democrat.

Ted is much more subtle than his father, but I believe that he does plan for a theocracy.

Cruz (Rafael Bienvenido Cruz) left the Roman Catholic Church in 1975 and became a born-again Christian after attending a Bible study with a colleague. Explaining his conversion, Cruz stated in an interview with The National Review, "The people at the Bible study had a peace that I could not understand, this peace in the midst of trouble. I knew I needed to find that peace by finding Jesus Christ." Following his conversion, his son and wife also became born-again Christians. In the Cruz home, talk at dinner time was frequently about the Bible.[20]

Cruz works from his home in Carrollton, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, as a traveling preacher[21][22] and public speaker, campaigning as a surrogate for his son during the 2016 Presidential campaign season.[23][24] In a 2014 Associated Press story, Cruz was quoted as saying, "I have a burden for this country and I feel that we cannot sit silent." He went on to say that he feels "It's time we stop being politically correct and start being biblically correct."[24]

About his political involvements in the 1980s, Cruz reflected, "I was on the state board of the Religious Roundtable, a Christian and Jewish religious organization that worked to elect Ronald Reagan." At the time, he told his son, "God has destined you for greatness."[23][25]

Nothing is sleazy compared to you.

Wow. There is nothing more sleazy in this world than I? You seriously choose to make a statement like that just because you think I disagree with you on a political candidate?

Folks, take a breath and THINK a bit before you hit the Post button.

"It's been my observation that when someone tells you to trust them, you probably shouldn't trust them. "

Sort of like that guy who says "Let me be clear" and he's never clear.

I don’t respond in kind.

He is out of his mind. Cruz is the worst at lying about other candidates and getting away with what he can. Cruz has turned into the most unethical person in the history of the United States. His integrity is shot. He is a joke now.

Another example of a Catholic (napscoordinator) with an utter contempt for a person who openly professes faith in Jesus Christ.

This is the problem with these filthing Christians. I will tell someone that they are WRONG and even in DANGER but never ever filth them.

Like it or not, Cruz has gone spiritually high profile with his “face of God” statement. If he does not make a concerted effort to live up to that, he’s asking for God to, er, reroute his path.

Donald’s Christianity is a cultural Christianity and he doesn’t presume more. He’s not in that kind of danger.
