I believe in catholicism, and Catholicism has at many times in history not been very catholic. For the Pope, motivated by a personal sociopolitical view, to call out one man, whom he doesn't even know, and whose heart he has no clue about, is just beneath what the Pope should represent. I'm very, very saddened about this. I'm not defending Trump. It's not my place to do so, nor is it the Pope's place to condemn him. Further, the Pope is essentially saying that nations don't have a right to sovereignty. That's a highly political, highly biased position that has the Church taking up an extremely leftist position, and one that has caused great, great suffering in the world. America, although imperfect, has done great good in the world, and was able to do that because it is a sovereign nation.
