ABOARD THE PAPAL AIRLINER -- Inserting himself into the Republican presidential race, Pope Francis on Wednesday suggested that Donald J. Trump "is not Christian" because of the harshness of his campaign promises to deport more immigrants and force Mexico to pay for a wall along the border.
"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian," Francis said when a reporter asked him about Mr. Trump on the papal airliner as he returned to Rome after his six-day visit to Mexico.

You don’t want to pick this fight, Your Holiness...
Isn’t Vatican City a walled encampment?
The Pope isn’t for sure. Pope is in no position to talk.
Everybody hates Trump.
Except the voters.
Even a blind pope finds a nut from time to time. Trump is apparently Francis’ nut...and vice versa.
How many Syrian refugees did the Vatican take in?
“A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,”
Certainly an interesting new criteria for being a Christian. Must be a Catholic thing.
Agreed. But then neither is this commie imposter of a Pope.
As a Catholic I find your comment deliciously good. Well done.
The Pope has been quite to say the least erratic on this trip so far.
Interesting times in the Faith.
Can anyone who wants to be a Vatican City citizen be one??? I don't think so.
That’s OK. Obama isn’t either.
No kidding, Sherlock, but is Francis Christian?
What happened to “who am I to judge”?
Its quite extraordinary that the pope is interfering in an election. Absolutely disgraceful. People need to wake up and see that all of these things are happening for a reason.
Like this Pope knows.
Trump’s rhetoric on enforcing the law (see: rendering unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s) strikes me as completely Christian. Charity is an individual virtue, exercised within the bounds of the law, and there is no virtue in generosity with other people’s money or country, or in rewarding the criminal behavior of illegals who broke the law to come here.
Jeez, who would have guessed that the pope backs Ted Cruz. At least that is what the Cruzaders will be saying.
Someone should build a bridge from Mosul to Vatican City.
