Is Donald Trump in trouble? After facing hostile questions from Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski Wednesday night--they comprehensively laid out his flip-flops, presented him with damning videotape, and asked him to explain the inconsistencies in detail--Trump was confronted by hostile audience members at MSNBC's televised town-hall forum. When a Muslim questioner got up to ask why he had said such bigoted things about minorities, Trump seemed to struggle while Scarborough forced him to respond. The candidate looked uncomfortable, unhappy, and somewhat lost. It could be a turning point.
If only. Of course, none of this actually occurred Wednesday night, just like it hasn't occurred once this entire campaign season. Instead, Scarborough and Brzezinski hosted what appeared to be a rehearsed and "safe" town hall, in which American voters asked the candidate such hard-hitting questions as "Why did you decide to run for president?" and "how will you set yourself apart" from other Republicans? It was completely worthless television, except in one sense: The program highlighted the many ways in which the media's coverage of Trump has been soft, insufficient, and without substance.

Interesting. We should turn to DailyKOS and DU next to see why we shouldn’t vote for Trump. LOL!
‘The press will turn on him with such a vengeance that it will make Ted Cruz look like a puppy’. What are you blathering about, the Press has been attacking him 24/7 since he announced.
The free ride from the MSM will end the second he wins the nomination. That’s when all the ads starring laborers and contractors who were screwed when Trump’s companies declared bankruptcy will start airing.
More hit pieces on Trump from the liberal media
IF he was one of them, why do they hate him so much?
Didn’t even get past the first paragraph did you?
of course the media won’t do that with, let’s say, Cruz if he gets the nomination, or Rubio, or Bush, or Carson, or Kasich. The media will go into full Hillary Campaign Mode, we all know that, so what exactly is your point?
If he is the nominee ... you think this is bad, just wait until he hits the pressure of the General.
Neither did I see that.
I look at TRUMP and marvel that he alone executes his top to bottom campaign without an army of sycophants, paid managers, trick operations, door to door mules, staging planners, writers, etc.
Running circles around every other candidate with nothing around him apparently but body guards, this guy is doubtless a titan in the best sense of the world.
Even at the debates, there TRUMP stands in a hostile hall, with no one there for him, on stage or off, but his family sitting there, surrounded by hounds of donors for all the other candidates, allowed to boo, hoot and holler before he barely gets started. Magnificent and unintimidated, the man is an icon.
The RNC deserves to be dismantled for such treatment of a single candidate, but for the front runner who is smoking the field, it is a real outrage and the definition of bias against him and sleaze for allowing such a nasty setting.
Scarborough and Breznef love Trump.
Those are Hillary type questions.
People ought to realize Trump is not a rebel and is an establishment candidate.
Not necessarily GOP establishment, but mainstream and media establishment.
We see McConnell looks like he will waver and give in to the establishment and let Obama have the Supreme Court.
And who has nothing but praise for McConnell and sides with Mitch over Ted Cruz?
The Donald, of course.
Cue Screaming Jay Hawkins.
Joe took the money, like 99% of the GOPe.
The other 1% are actually leftists : )
You seem to be missing the satire contained in the article. The author is criticizing the fact that the media is treating Trump with kid gloves.
No, no, the press LOVES Trump. Didn’t you get the memo? I mean, look around. Not a day goes by when there isn’t some frontpage story all across the MSM just gushing over Trump and his immigration policies. They’re everywhere. You simply can’t escape them.
And when the press frontpages a story about Ted Cruz coming within the margin of error of Trump in a questionably weighted poll, and it gets headlines like “CRUZ DEFEATS TRUMP” on every site, why, that’s just proof of how much they hate Ted Cruz.
LOL
It’s amazing how many people just don’t get this.
Trump is the MSM’s dream candidate, especially given the two clowns the Dems have to choose from. The only candidate they might have a chance against is Trump.
But where that strategy will blow up is a Trump win will ensure Bloomberg runs, and against either Dem plus Trump, he’ll likely run away with it.
Hillary should demand equal time of MSNBC. Trump is trying to steal her primary voters in SC. She needs to shore up her base or she’ll get Berned.
But for the grace of God and the luck of circumstance and namesake, Mika would be strutting herself off a pole in a Montana T!tty Bar.
“Why should he go on Levinâs show...a guy who sold out and is obviously against him?”
To show he is not too pussy to.
But, he is a pussy.
He is metrosexual all the way.
Let me get this straight...
Slate is defending Trump against attacks from MSNBC???
Alice in Wonderland!
“a Muslim questioner got up to ask why he had said such bigoted things about minorities”
They’re confusing what Trump has said about new policies regarding our national security with racism, bigotry and “Islamophobia”. Our nation’s security means more to more Americans than any number of Muslim’s being offended by what they claim Trump has said, not about them but about NATIONAL SECURITY.
Look, I support Cruz...but if Trump is the nominee I will vote for him in a heartbeat.
He will actually accomplish many things which are absolutely critical to our nation... stopping illegal immigration and addressing the problem, reforming the tax system, overturning Obama care, strengthening our military, reversing the drain on the US economy from off shore, and standing up string internationally.
Sander and Hillary will do NONE of that.
One thing that does trouble me a lot about Trump lately are his comments about 9211 and Iraq.
While it is true that most of those who acted against us on 911 were Saudis, including Bin Laden who was in exile, this does not mean the government of Saudi Arabia was involved.
So, you can say Saudis knocked it down...but, as I say, that does not mean they were guided, directed, or controlled by the Saudi Royal Family/Government.
It also does not mean Bush was principle at fault. That, IMHO, goes to eight years of Clinton as the terrorists fought us and prepared to attack the US, and Clinton pretty much sat on his hands.
This is something we pretty much already know.
As to the Iraq war, Bush made a mistake (IMHO) saying that the reason we went into Iraq was for WMDs.
I believe we went into Iraq to defeat Saddam who had violated about every term of the desert Storm cease fire over ten years. But also to establish a strong presence for our military next to Iran, and to set up a fly trap for terrorists to come fight us.
They did...and died by the tens of thousands.
Bush should have been forthright about these goals...I believe after 911 he could have gotten the country to buy into them.
But he succeeded in:
1. Defeating Saddam and his military.
2. Defeating the terrorist insurgency.
3. Establishing a secular Iraq on the road to stability.
4. Establishing a strong base of operation right next door to Iran, the largest state sponsor of terror on earth.
All of that worked and was in place when Bush left office and all of it was worthwhile having.
In fact, it worked so well that in 2009 the Iranian people rebelled and would have themselves over thrown the Mullahs. I believe that the spreading of that type of freedom was a principle goal of the Bush administration...and I believe it was working.
The Iranian people wanted what the Iraqi people were achieving.
But one thing had changed.
Obama was in power. He did not lift a finger to help the people of Iran (he did not want Bush to be remembered as being successful, and he himself is sympathetic to Mullahs.
Then, he squandered all the gains in Iraq and pulled out sustainment force out of country before it was ready to stand on its own which gave us ISIS.
All of that is on Obama’s plate...not Bush’s. and all of this is what actually happened...despite Obama’s rhetoric and propaganda...and unfortunately, despite Trump’s comments to the contrary.
