Scarborough: I'm Not Voting for Trump!
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 02/18/2016 6:02:57 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

On today's on Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough flatly stated that people that know him, as in his family, know whom he's voting for, and "it's not Donald Trump!" That's newsworthy because Scarborough has been accused by many, as here, here and here, of being in the tank for Trump.

Clashing with Time's Joe Klein, Scarborough said that, while not supporting Trump, he and Mika Brzezinski have simply been making the case that for months, the media have been "dead wrong" about Trump in constantly predicting his imminent demise. Klein, meanwhile, paid a very backhanded compliment to Trump. According to Klein, Trump has a "highly developed lizard brain" and a "feral intelligence," while knowing nothing about policy. Klein added that Trump reminds him of "the Emperor Caligula who got his greatest pleasure from destroying his opponents and humiliating them."

The show's ratings are driven by audience interest, not Scarborough and Mika's political preferences. Odds are they are democrats, 90+% of the press is.

I think you are right - both served together in the House. Their relationship is the key driver here. Good call.

Republican Party Platform

I wonder why we have trouble winning elections?

1. Endless wars, (I guess being a Reaganite is so out of vogue right now, ever since the Neo Cons pushed the Bush Doctrine

2. free trade and open borders, regardless of the consequences

3. Uncontrollable spending (just passed by Republican controlled congress + racking up 5 Trillion in additional debt under George Bush)

4. Other than the 2nd amendment, what is the Republican winning issue? Independent voters are the largest voting bloc in the United States

National Debt by President

This morning there was a very surprisingly fair treatment of D. Trump on Morning Joe, more favorable than on Fox.

So has DT trashed Joe yet? The mark of a statesman - trash all who disagree.

Scarborough: I'm Not Voting for Trump!

Thanks for the help, Joe.

He does seem to have that idiosyncrasy. Seems to delight in it.

At this particular time, such an idiosyncrasy is highly useful.

The perverseness concerns me. He doesn’t exhibit a lot of respect.

I think, thought ran though my mind, he will be writing another book.

“Art of Running for President.” Entailing his exploits, flaunting his ability

in routing the candidates,

how he exploited the media,

flummoxed the gOP, and other maneuvers he successfully accomplished.

AND I sincerely hope(!!!!!) that he is a great President!

I SINCERELY HOPE(caps for emphasis/cfe) and pray that you and ‘Miss’ Phyllis see something I am missing!!!

Most voters have no idea the consequences of an ever expanding budget.

I agree with your comment. The last couple days Fox and Friends was so bad I had to turn them off. I decided to try Morning Joe and was somewhat surprised. They actually had some decent content. Mika doesn’t even bother me. At least she doesn’t hide what she is unlike the chameleons at Fox.

I saw this interview this morning when it happened. Joe Klein calling anyone lizard-like is pure projection of his own personality. Joe S and Mika skewered Klein near the end of the show with his own quotes. It was a thing of beauty.

Trump has been able to get a pretty firm but roughly 35%. As long as there are five or six other candidates, Trump wins. If there is only one other candidate, that candidate wins. I believe this because I believe 65% of the Republicans will vote for any other candidate than Trump given that option. As soon as Kasich, Carson, and Bush do the right thing and get out the real leader will begin to emerge. That’s my impression. Cruz can get votes from Trump. Trump cannot get the votes of those whom he’s already alienated.

It's not hard to understand, really. Most voters are anti-Trump. The majority of the vote is not for Trump. He leads because there are too many other candidates. And Trump is not their second choice let alone their first choice. If people cannot vote for Carson, Bush, or Kasich, they are not going to shift to Trump. They will either go to Rubio or Cruz. Cruz voters, after the way Trump has acted, would rather vote for Rubio than Trump. And the same is true, I believe, of Rubio supporters despite the friction they've had. That is, they'd rather hold their nose and vote for Cruz than for Trump if the only options are Trump and Cruz.

Trump's over-the-top contempt for all the other candidates, calling them "hacks," questioning Carson's faith and mental health, questioning Cruz's religion and citizenship, and incredible New York obnoxiousness make him the last candidate that the other candidates supporters will go to. Sadly, Trump has been so vile that it is possible that some would rather see the open liberals win instead of Trump, the covert liberal.
