Vietnam was a disaster. The US had no business getting involved in France’s mess. There were no US interests being threatened.
“Draft Dodger”, whether Trump or anyone had a rational reason or not to defer, is a needlessly dirty word. The US is not, and should not, be the world’s police force.
Whether the war was a justified one or not, comparing himself avoiding getting STD because of numerous sexual conquests to fighting in Vietnam is insulting to the soldiers that actually went to Vietnam.
All wars are a disaster. The same argument against going to Vietnam could have been made (and was by some) during Iraq War.
Spare us the revisionism. At the time, defending Vietnam from communist overthrow made perfect sense. For those who actually understand the Cold War, it still does.

He was Classified 4F back in the Mid Sixties because of his having Asthma.
He actually lost Job Opportunities in his chose field because of his 4F Draft Status. It was a different world back then.
I guess he had better not run for President for fear of being called a Draft Dodger. Same goes for me, High Draft Lottery Number combined with a Hereditary Eye Condition.
Oh yeah, we are both Conservative Republicans too. We don’t get the standard Democrat “draft dodger” label exemption.
