Whether the war was a justified one or not, comparing himself avoiding getting STD because of numerous sexual conquests to fighting in Vietnam is insulting to the soldiers that actually went to Vietnam.

I agree, it is an insult. I didn’t sign up for the military during the Viet Nam war. I didn’t like draft dodgers, either. Two friends joined the Army(which meant you served an extra year)in hopes of getting the MOS and avoiding Viet Nam with the duty station of their choice. They advised me to sign up for an extra year. I declined. As bad as the prospect of being sent into a no-win war was, I decided to take my chances with the draft and a year less than these guys. I got drafted and went to Viet Nam, but got out a year earlier than these guys, who went to Viet Nam anyway. Its no less patriotic being drafted than it is in joining. I served, but with the realization that we servicemen were being betrayed by a government that had no intention of winning the war.
