Twofold answer: first, I do believe far too many Christians sat out election 2012 and that’s how Obama got elected. I do not believe Obama was God’s choice. Isaiah said the government shall be on His Shoulders. Well, the Shoulders are in the Body. The Body has to vote for a person who stands for Christ. The Body in 2012 couldn’t be bothered.
Now, with that said, I believe Obama served God’s purpose in waking the Body out of sleep and rallying It to get up and take it’s country back from secular progressivism. Obama pole-vaulted into areas where others before him crept. Abandoning Israel and desecrating marriage is the final straw. As to the numbers you mention: friend, they are numbers only. Votes have not been cast but for 2 of 50 states! Gallup doesn’t even poll presidential elections anymore because they can’t guarantee proper models. Votes are real and they haven’t occured yet. I think Obama is God punishing us. That is similar to what you say.
I think Clinton would be a continuation of that punishment.
I think Trump could be a Nebuchadnezzar to tear down an old system that had become corrupt. That would make him a judgment, I suppose. But discipline is designed to help us grow.
I appreciate your positive outlook regarding Cruz, but he’s not winning, and Trump is winning.
I sense in my gut that God’s not finished disciplining us yet.
