[16 Oct 2015] Tom Coburn Slams Cruz Effect-Less Faith In Congress "Disappointment In The Hinterlands
BuzzFeed News ^ | Oct. 16, 2015, at 8:05 a.m. | Ilan Ben-Meir

"I call it the 'Cruz effect,'" Coburn, who retired from the Senate in 2014, told Sirius XM host Pete Dominick. "Look, when you tell people you can accomplish something that you can't, for example, shutting down the government over the Affordable Care Act. When, in fact, you promise people in your speeches and your talk that we can do this, and by dinghy, we're gonna get rid of the Affordable Care Act, and all we have to do is shut down the government.

"Well, that's one thing to tell 'em that," the former Oklahoma senator said. "It's a whole other thing to be able to accomplish that, and build a coalition that once you shut it, that it doesn't get opened up 'till you win.

"So what happens to that is, once you've told people that, and you've put your finger -- 'everybody that doesn't believe exactly like I believe, you're not a patriot, you don't care about the country' -- what you do is you create greater disappointment in the hinterlands, because you gave them a false hope, knowing that you couldn't accomplish it, but it was about yelling, and screaming, and waving the flag," he continued. "And so what happens is, there becomes less confidence in the Congress and its ability to do its job.

"You know, I came out of the Senate with one of the most conservative ratings ever in the history of the Senate. You know, it was like 98.8% in terms of conservative," Coburn concluded. "And yet, I compromised all the time to accomplish things that were good for the country."

Nick, I am beginning to be seriously concerned about you. This is only a election!

This is what I believe is true: Israel is back in the land, and looking forward to the coming of their Messiah. All the nations have turned against Israel. Jerusalem has become a stumbling block for all nations. Damascus is almost a ruinous heap. Russia and Iran seem to be setting up for the Ezekiel 38 attack on Israel. The Revelation 12:1-2 “Great sign in the heavens” will actually, literally, occur on September 23-24, 2017.

Stop focusing on the silly human drama on the ground and look up! Your redemption draws neigh! Read your Bible and Pray that you will be found worthy to escape the wrath to come!

So we should vote for someone who promises but doesn’t deliver? Seems to me under this scenario you can promise anything...like Bernie Sanders is doing.

That would never work in any world except politics...and it shouldn’t work there either.

Yes, Tom Coburn did not call Ted Cruz a “liar” because Senators don’t call other Senators liars. It is just not done.

Opps!

Except that Ted Cruz did call Mitch McConnell a “liar” when he could have said Mitch McConnell had not been “intellectually honest”. But he didn’t. So it really does appear that the “Senator is a liar” meme got started by Ted Cruz.

The “Town Halls” tonight will be interesting. :-)

Deliver the Goods

Doesn't Trump have a problem, 'delivering the goods.'

Remember back in the 2012 election cycle, when Trump promised he had a huge anouncement that would rock President Obama's presidency? He had proof! (Geraldo's Rivera's Al capone's vault)

Then remember he never, 'delivered the goods.'

By making promises and didn't follow through, DISCREDITING all of Obama's critics? When he helped Obama in 2012, and now you think he ON YOUR SIDE.

Do you have a response to why Trump didn't DELIVE THE GOODS and HELPED Obama?

The problem is that all the tweets have been removed about this and supposedly this was made up by a liberal blogger who took a partial sentence than made a tweet out of it and Drumph used it. Tom Coburn denies he ever said any such thing. The problem is Drumph is still using it on his campaign stops.. Coburn is really mad and said it takes a lot of nerve to call someone a liar when they’re a bigger liar than anybody!!! Meaning Drumph is a giant liar!!!

“To create the impression that we can actually defund Obamacare, when the only thing we control, and barely, is the House of Representatives, is not intellectually honest,” Coburn said on Thursday’s Morning Joe.

As per usual, the elites tell us what can't be done which is intellectually dishonest. Democrats, Republicans and others wanted Obamacare to be defunded, but the Democrat politicians were more interested in obeying their bosses than in doing what their constituents wanted.

This appears to be the source of the dust up over the latest Trump-Cruz dust up. Looking at the statement, one could characterize Coburn's saying the Ted Cruz promises more than he can deliver. Now is that calling Ted "the most dishonest person", well obviously not, but it is calling Ted Cruz a "dishonest person". So I think Donald Trump should issue an apology saying the Tom Coburn only call Ted a dishonest person, he didn't call him the most dishonest person.

Actually, the following is the source of the dustup. Dan Scavino of the campaign saw this tweet and thought the quote was from Coburn, which it was not. It was from the writer of the article, who later quoted Coburn's other quote, the more reasonable one in the body of his article.

Scavino later removed his original tweet and replaced it with the story regarding Coburn's actual quote. Trump was on the road and in meetings all day in SC, and may not have heard about the mistake or misquote. Though I have no way of being certain about that.

I agree Trump should apologize, if for no other reason than the contrast he will provide with Ted the Face of God.

There were a host of shiny faces sent to Washington DC on promises of shutting down Obamacare, reining in spending, putting the brakes on the unConstitutional acts of Federal Agencies, etc.

A very few lasted past the tour of their new offices, and Cruz was one of those who did, and who at least attempted to do the things he promised.

That the rest held their constituents in contempt and forgot the promises they made on the stump isn't Cruz' fault.

That they resent Cruz for being a conspicuous reminder of their failure to honor their promises is no surprise, and that dislike should be worn as a badge of honor.

If you want Miss Popularity, check out the pageants--this is politics.

Leader or not, it is difficult to buck the culture of corruption and the insidious malady of 'Beltway Fever'.

If there is disappointment in the hinterlands the only people who should direct that at Cruz are his constituents, should they feel that appropriate.

Everyone else voted for the Senators and Representatives of their choice, and should direct that enmity toward those they voted for who reneged on their promises instead of one they couldn't vote for who didn't.

Especially when the preceding question was about Obama saying Trump would never be elected President. But we knew as soon as he said it, the Tediban would be all over it, like white on rice.

Sorry did not hear the word liar at all but will listen again and again.

Must be your old age or the crap you Trumpanzees drink that cause yawl to flip out and start hearing what Trump wants yawl to hear.

Now stick your head back into the sand until Trump says the magic word for yawl to come back out.

This is one of the reasons why I say that Donald Trump is a type of Samson:

This is why I say yawl Trump supporters are nuts. Comparing Trump to some type of Messiah or savior that is above all and going to save us.

There are 3 branches of government. GOT IT 3.

The Executive is only one of them and putting a crony capitalist in charge of the executive branch that one has NO understanding of the constitution is going to be a disaster and secondly Trump is more of a narcissist then Obama EVER thought he could be. Watch out for REAL power to be unveiled when he starts.

You might want to save some of those foxes you talk about.....you are going to need them. Along with any ammo and rifles

OK Mr sniveler, let’s brew it down to the reality of Coburn’s complaint:

Cruz’ principled resistance put the very unprincipled Cloburn on the spot for his destructive compromises, and that hurt his feelings.

You appear to be more of Coburn’s kind than Cruz’ kind, in my estimation.

Its all in the reading comprehension.

I’m trying hard in this post not to directly call you anything.

OK. First of all Samson was a Judge during the time before Israel had Kings not a Messiah or savior. YHWH raised him up to bring judgement to the idolatrous Philistines, and he ultimately died in the process of bringing down the Temple of Dagon. Judges 13-16 tells Samson’s story. You should read it.

In case you didn’t notice, while the Constitution says there are three branches of federal government, now there is only one. It is the bureaucracy of the old Executive Department. The Congress is irrelevant, just a fig leaf to deceive the masses. The Judiciary has been taken over by agents of the commercial class. Remember when the Supreme Court ruled that even if the produce from your farm never left you state, it was still interstate commerce because you could be affecting the interstate price of the commodity by displacing produce from out of state.

You are currently ruled, and I do mean ruled, using Contract Law. That started when the Federal Reserve was started, and the 16th and 17th Amendments we ratified. That is how Common Core is promulgated. That is why there are Federal Grants in Aid. These are contracts that are used to control local governments and agencies. Do you think any one would actually feed their kids Michelle’s awful meals if they had any real local control?

So, knowing that the contract law regime needs to be overcome, who do you think could do that? A politician who still is under the delusion that politicians, and not the commercial interests are in charge, or a man who has made his fortune using contract law?

Now Donald Trump could turn on us when he gets into office, but there really is no indication that will happen. What does he have to gain? It is more likely that he will use the current executive powers to dismantle the current corrupt system and restore the Republic you think we still have.

Based on the current pace that Bible Prophecy is being fulfilled, the most likely scenario is that the prospect of a Trump Presidency causes Iran, Russia, China or some combination of them to attack the United States with nuclear weapons. This corresponds with Samson taking down the Temple of Dagon.

So it would be a good idea to get right with YHWH, if you aren’t already. If you are, then you should really read your Bible and pray that you will be found worthy to escape the Wrath to come. If you don’t escape the Wrath to come, then remember: Do NOT take the Mark of the Beast on your forehead or right hand! Just head for the hills! Don’t go back for anything. That is what the Bible tells you to do. Shalom!

To Echo4C:
Thank you so much for your inane post that keenly illustrats the retalitory mindset of busybody posters.

Your post caught my attention because I immediately knew it had to have originated from a separate thread and totally different subject matter!

BTW, typical of an inciter, you intentionally posted Tediban, instead of the Tediban , which was another clue to unveiling you.
