Fight Back
Much as it pays to emphasize the positive, there are times when the only choice is confrontation. In most cases I’m very easy to get along with. I’m very good to people who are good to me. But when people treat me badly or unfairly or try to take advantage of me, my general attitude, all my life, has been to fight back very hard. The risk is that you’ll make a bad situation worse, and I certainly don’t recommend this approach to everyone. But my experience is that if you’re fighting for something you believe in— even if it means alienating some people along the way— things usually work out for the best in the end.
When the city unfairly denied me, on Trump Tower, the standard tax break every developer had been getting, I fought them in six different courts. It cost me a lot of money, I was considered highly likely to lose, and people told me it was a no-win situation politically. I would have considered it worth the effort regardless of the outcome. In this case, I won— which made it even better.
When Holiday Inns, once my partners at the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, ran a casino that consistently performed among the bottom 50 percent of casinos in town, I fought them very hard and they finally sold out their share to me. Then I began to think about trying to take over the Holiday Inns company altogether.
Even if I never went on the offensive, there are a lot of people gunning for me now. One of the problems when you become successful is that jealousy and envy inevitably follow. There are people— I categorize them as life’s losers— who get their sense of accomplishment and achievement from trying to stop others. As far as I’m concerned, if they had any real ability they wouldn’t be fighting me, they’d be doing something constructive themselves.

Says Newt ..the one that savaged Romney relentlessly , thereby damaging him for the general election ..it all worked out though because hopefully Trump will be our next Prez ...
“I think the whole politics of this kind of personal stuff is almost deranged”.
Nail on the head. TDS is Trump derangement syndrome, but in TDS it is Trump and his supporters who are deranged.
He’s right, you know.
After over 7 years of being on the receiving end of this kind of rhetoric, we’re fed up Newt. You establishment people just don’t get it yet.
I agree with Newt on this point.
I’m voting for Bozo instead:
1) He actually *admits* he’s a clown.
2) Better hair.
Trump is just being his old New York self, bada-bing bada-boo.
What Newt thinks has been shown over and over again to have little relevance in this election cycle.
Everyone is missing the point, including Newt.
Trump supporters are Trump supporters because they are more than angry about the border and the lack of law enforcement on the border.
They are angry that blue collar jobs and manufacturing are leaving the country.
They are angry about the VA and a long long list of other things....but immigration and jobs are at the top of the list.
So bottom line: Trump supporters could care less that Trump, Jeb and GW are quarreling.
So Trump gets his name on every front page in the country and millions of dollars in free TV and his supporters care not how he gets it because they are convinced that he will build the wall and that he will force nations who sell goods to us free of import taxes to import ours tax free, thereby bringing a lot of manufacturing back to the US.
Certainly many other changes must be made, but you do not win elections with hours of boring discussions on tax law, labor law, etc.
You have to have a straight to the gut theme....MAKE AMERICA great again.
But they damn sure don't use ad hominem attacks...
Trump is in the process of making sausage out of the status quo....and like making sausage, it’s not pretty.
Go Trump
Buy my book!
Newt knows a lot about looking stupid.
Hey Newt, how did that campaign go for you sage?
You're talking about a guy who's taken historic, non-stop malicious attacks, slanders, death threats, entire networks gunning for him, not to mention both parties in D.C. since 6/16/2015. Incoming around the clock. Many of these were professional level orchestrated political attacks and death threats.
Newt's an OK guy, but he sure in hell never faced anything like this. Trump has all the right enemies for damn good reason.
