Yes, that would be wise. Instead, he just REPEATED the Coburn MISquote at a rally a half hour ago.
(And I don’t even like Cruz)
Perhaps his sources are telling him it’s legit. I’ve seen news organizations do that. Refuse to change a report because they believe their reporters.

The above is One place where that has Coburn himself talking about Cruz. It’s clear he doesn’t care for Cruz’s tactics.
Coburn himself:
Former Republican Sen. Tom Coburn said Thursday night that his former colleague Sen. Ted Cruzâs rhetoric and failure to deliver on promises is creating a âCruz effectâ that leads the public to have less confidence in Congressâ ability to do its job.
âI call it the âCruz effect,ââ Coburn, who retired from the Senate in 2014, told Sirius XM host Pete Dominick. âLook, when you tell people you can accomplish something that you canât, for example, shutting down the government over the Affordable Care Act. When, in fact, you promise people in your speeches and your talk that we can do this, and by dinghy, weâre gonna get rid of the Affordable Care Act, and all we have to do is shut down the government.
âWell, thatâs one thing to tell âem that,â the former Oklahoma senator said. âItâs a whole other thing to be able to accomplish that, and build a coalition that once you shut it, that it doesnât get opened up âtill you win.
âSo what happens to that is, once youâve told people that, and youâve put your finger â âeverybody that doesnât believe exactly like I believe, youâre not a patriot, you donât care about the countryâ â what you do is you create greater disappointment in the hinterlands, because you gave them a false hope, knowing that you couldnât accomplish it, but it was about yelling, and screaming, and waving the flag,â he continued. âAnd so what happens is, there becomes less confidence in the Congress and its ability to do its job.
âYou know, I came out of the Senate with one of the most conservative ratings ever in the history of the Senate. You know, it was like 98.8% in terms of conservative,â Coburn concluded. âAnd yet, I compromised all the time to accomplish things that were good for the country.â
