In Saturday night’s debate, Ted Cruz took Donald Trump’s longstanding… and current… support for Planned Parenthood, hung it around Trump’s neck, set it on fire (metaphorically) and chased Trump through the streets. It was a horrific example of a blustering bully called out on his own record and being made to own it. If you haven’t seen it, you owe it to yourself to check it out:
Now Cruz has followed this up with an attack directly linking Trump to Planned Parenthood and the Center for Medical Progress investigative videos.
TRANSCRIPT
VO:Ted Cruz and I approve this message.
REPORTER: In between sips of wine and bite of salad a Planned Parenthood doctor discusses getting money for tissue from aborted fetuses.
MEGYN KELLY cLIP: Harvesting the organs of aborted fetuses for money…
VO: Planned Parenthood treat the unborn like another form of currency and yet some politicians still defend them.
DONALD TRUMP: Planned Parenthood serves a good function.
SEAN HANNITY CLIP: With the debt we have should we even give them a penny?
DONALD TRUMP: We have to look at the positive.
VO: Donald Trump is just plain wrong
Trump can’t run from this. He’s trying to bluster his way through it with the “women’s health” bullsh** but 86% of Planned Parenthood’s revenue comes directly from elective abortions. Abortions on demand. Abortions with no underlying medical reason other than inconvenience.
As the New York Times notes:
Takeaway
Starting the ad with newscasts on the videos gives the accusations a more authentic, trusting feel and grabs the viewers' attention more than using a narrator. It also builds the case against Planned Parenthood before linking Mr. Trump to it, while subtly pointing to a similarity with Mrs. Clinton, a pariah to many South Carolina Republican voters. But perhaps most effectively, the ad highlights Mr. Trump's position on a hot-button social issue that he has taken as a candidate, and not from his past, to attack him.
Ted State is as big a joke as FR’s resident marathon tag team posters, like Gorgeous George here, Guns’nGuts’nRoses, Tuberculosis Boy and all the others who bounce off the ropes for our entertainment, may Ted bless their pointed heads.
It doesn’t make any sense, and we know it’s all show—but it gets the blood flowing and the feeble-minded going.
How do they get into those mankinis?
Excellent post. Mega-dittos. The Trumpbots are out in force for their serial adulterer and strip club owner.
Oh, you were talking about the Oregon Standoff. That was bad. So is abortion. I am torn on somethings concerning abortion and wish that the Lord God would have mercy and tell us loudly so that there is no guessing on how He feels. Regarding your post to me on Hitler is not called for.
You need to do this on it’s own thread. It can be news because its an interview and it’s recent!
>>Yes Trump does want to stop federal funding of PP.
But...
“If the time came, I would look at the individual things that they do and maybe some of the things are good, and maybe — I know a lot of the things are bad,” Trump said. “I would look at the good aspects of it and I would also look because I’m sure they do some things properly and good and good for women.”
PP has good aspects, do good for women. Does he have any knowledge of PP and real healthcare that is done for women in real, not PP clinics? And he said that abortion is a small part of what PP does.
Good grief.
I see you don't understand how filibusters work.
LOL ! TEDstate , that’s awesome ...
NO MONEY, you mean like the full funding the congress just gave PP in the budget, the budget CRUZ and his cohorts just passed!!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!
Yes, and so does a majority of the rest of the population.
We're abnormal on Free Republic, if you hadn't noticed.
The Media DeathStar has decreed that Planned Parenthood is "good". Trump is naysaying the DeathStar to its face, but "allowing" [as Clemens might put it] that there may be some good there. As many people have been led to believe, by the TeeVee.
So, he gets to have his cake, and eat it, too.
If the DeathStar wishes to push the point, I believe Trump would engage them in fisticuffs over the definition.
He's not real shy about that sort of thing...
Well, aren’t you the Alinskyite.
Lessee....you make false accusations...really serious false accusations and you’re the one who’s taking names...and keeping your Alinsky list, IIRC.
You are one sicko. Take your trash tactics back to DU. Very telling....and expected, considering who YOU support.
And, don’t ever post to me, again.
OK. So, did you read about “The White Rose”?
>>>Or you can take his word for it.
What you pasted, but... he continued by saying he wouldn’t necessarily defund the organization.
FRiend, he is all over the lot. Listen to him. He’s for it, but the horrible abortion, no way, but when we look at it, they do good, we should take care of women, but maybe if they don’t, however abortion is a small part and that’s bad, but the women they need help and we should look at the good..
“Maybe unless they stop with the abortions, we don’t do the funding for the stuff that we want,” he said. “I’m totally against the abortion aspect of Planned Parenthood, but I’ve had many women, I’ve had many Republican, conservative women come up and say Planned Parenthood serves a good function, other than that one aspect.”
He told CNN earlier in the day he would examine the Planned Parenthood’s practices to determine the “good aspects” that help women.
“I’m sure they do some things properly and good and that are good for women, and I would look at that, and I would look at other aspects also,” he said. “But we have to take care of women.”
It’s classic Trump: both sides, three sides, whatever you want to hear, incoherent hot mess.

LOL.....Brilliant!
Uh no. It doesn't work that way. Planned Parenthood is in the abortion business. If you give them money, they get to do abortions. There is no separating the two.
Trumps premise (as well as the rest of the Democrats) is that giving them funding doesn't fund abortion. That is complete BS. Federal funding goes towards paying rent, purchasing medical supplies, paying the electric bill, and hiring staff - all of which are used to perform abortions. You can't sanitize your funding like that. They only have one bank account, one business office, one set of books.
Planned Parenthood themselves openly admitted that if federal funding was cut, then clinics would be forced to close. Care to guess how many abortions closed clinics perform? Zero. Thus, federal funding pays for abortions, and has been doing so for decades now.
Exactly. See my post #69. :)
Cruz is so desperate. Nobody takes him seriously after taking down TWO ads. He is the worst leader in the history of campaigns.
No he doesn't.
OF COURSE "TedState" wrote this swill. TedState hasn't got a CLUE what Trump did, or what he was up to.
It's like stealing candy from a STUPID baby, as we used to say in the early days of FR. :)
Yes, and so does a majority of the rest of the population. We're abnormal on Free Republic, if you hadn't noticed.
I think the view of what you characterize as abnormal is true and the view of your imputed "majority of the rest of the population" is false.
Which view do you think is true?
Trump's Position on Planned Parenthood
When Cruz said Trump "supports federal taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood," Trump responded that Cruz was the "single biggest liar." Trump said in August that he didn't support funding abortions performed by Planned Parenthood but he left open the possibility of funding other aspects of the group's work on women's health.
In early September, however, Trump said, "I wouldn't do any funding as long as they are performing abortions."
Here's part of the disagreement between the two candidates in the debate:
Trump: Where did I support?
Cruz: You supported it when we were battling over defunding Planned Parenthood. You went on ...
Trump: That's a lot of lies.
Cruz: You said, "Planned Parenthood does wonderful things and we should not defund it."
Trump: It does do wonderful things but not as it relates to abortion.
Cruz: So I'll tell you what ...
Trump: Excuse me. Excuse me, there are wonderful things having to do with women's health.
Cruz: You see you and I ...
Trump: But not when it comes to abortion.
In an Aug. 11, 2015, interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo, Trump said, "Well, the biggest problem I have with Planned Parenthood is the abortion situation. It's like an abortion factory frankly. You can't have it and it shouldn't be funding and that should not be funded by the government. I feel strongly about that."
He went on to say, "What I would do is look at the individual things that they do and maybe some of the things are good, I know a lot of things are bad. But certainly the abortion aspect of it should not be funded by government.â
Cuomo followed up, asking, "So you would take a look at it before you defund it. That's what is being asked for right now. Many in your party are doing the opposite. They are saying defund it and then look at it. You'd say look at it first."
Trump responded: âI would look at the good aspects of it. I would also look as I'm sure they do some things properly and good and good for women. I would look at that. I would look at other aspects also, but we have to take care of women. We have to absolutely take care of women. The abortion aspect of Planned Parenthood should not be funded."
So, Trump did not say he supported cutting off all federal funding to Planned Parenthood, as other Republicans, including Cruz, have done. He did say that abortions performed by Planned Parenthood shouldn't be funded.
Cruz lied and the 9th Commandment died ... or what's the point of having faith if you can't pick and choose the parts you want to follow.
