In Saturday night’s debate, Ted Cruz took Donald Trump’s longstanding… and current… support for Planned Parenthood, hung it around Trump’s neck, set it on fire (metaphorically) and chased Trump through the streets. It was a horrific example of a blustering bully called out on his own record and being made to own it. If you haven’t seen it, you owe it to yourself to check it out:
Now Cruz has followed this up with an attack directly linking Trump to Planned Parenthood and the Center for Medical Progress investigative videos.
TRANSCRIPT
VO:Ted Cruz and I approve this message.
REPORTER: In between sips of wine and bite of salad a Planned Parenthood doctor discusses getting money for tissue from aborted fetuses.
MEGYN KELLY cLIP: Harvesting the organs of aborted fetuses for money…
VO: Planned Parenthood treat the unborn like another form of currency and yet some politicians still defend them.
DONALD TRUMP: Planned Parenthood serves a good function.
SEAN HANNITY CLIP: With the debt we have should we even give them a penny?
DONALD TRUMP: We have to look at the positive.
VO: Donald Trump is just plain wrong
Trump can’t run from this. He’s trying to bluster his way through it with the “women’s health” bullsh** but 86% of Planned Parenthood’s revenue comes directly from elective abortions. Abortions on demand. Abortions with no underlying medical reason other than inconvenience.
As the New York Times notes:
Takeaway
Starting the ad with newscasts on the videos gives the accusations a more authentic, trusting feel and grabs the viewers' attention more than using a narrator. It also builds the case against Planned Parenthood before linking Mr. Trump to it, while subtly pointing to a similarity with Mrs. Clinton, a pariah to many South Carolina Republican voters. But perhaps most effectively, the ad highlights Mr. Trump's position on a hot-button social issue that he has taken as a candidate, and not from his past, to attack him.
>>Because you’ve confused our opinions on Free Republic for reality.
I’ve asked for what you believe to be true concerning PP and abortion.
You refuse answers to simple questions for some reason.
Whatever the reason, it’s not a very coherent or persuasive argument for your position - but that’s your choice.
The problem is that the halo has holes in it.
Trump's "more reasonable" approach might actually put more of a damper on abortion than the current rigid doctrinaire version of Cruz can. Abortion problems are ultimately love problems, or rather lack-of-love problems.
Exactly, and conservatives, et al, have a real reputation for slash and burn tactics and then survey the damage later. I am not sure where, but I think Trump once said offhandedly that he would allow adoption counseling and sonograms per norm in PP and all abortion clinics.
Trump has promised to look at the activities of PP. Who’s to say there isn’t a new or innovative way to fund it than what is being done now? The status quo is not what Trump is about.
Thanks for your reply.
PP has a very long history. And a very long history of scamming for funding; and a long history of liberals protecting the scam and getting money back from PP for doing so.
Trump’s position is the status quo: “we’re not funding abortion, but the good things PP does.. women need PP.. “
Does he really not know better?
http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/if-pp-disappeared-heres-the-choices-women-would-have
Does that make you feel better, somehow?
If so, by all means - carry on. :)
Once again, you're confused.
Perhaps I refuse to answer simple posters for some reason...
Do you think government can give money to PP and not support their abortion operations? Do you agree with Trump that PP does “good work”?
Very simple questions. The replies can be, as I believe: “No and no.”
They could be “Yes and no; yes and yes”...
Very simple. Whatever your view is...
I get it, D-fendr. Your guy Cruz is getting his butt stomped by Trump.
You're in anguish over it. The only thing that relieves your anguish is to argue with Trump supporters on Free Republic.
We really don't care. Our hair is not on fire over the issue of Trump versus Cruz.
Your head-banging and flying spittle over this Planned Parenthood thingee will just move on to the NEXT "Trump affront to decency" tomorrow.
Do you see why we just shake our heads about you pitifully small band of FR True Cruz Believers?
“As for abortion, it has not decreased but increased with the advance of civilization. The reader will recall that one authority says that there are 1,000,000 abortions in the United States every year, while another estimates double that number.”

Why didn’t Ted Cruz filibuster when the Senate voted funding for Planned Parenthood? He could have done something and did nothing.
That is the real Trump Abortion position. Thank you for rare honesty among Trump Groupies.
yawn....
All I care about in this election is stopping the illegal invasion of our nation by low life animals from third world countries.
If we have no borders, we have no country. If we have no country none of this matters.
I just don’t want my taxes paying for losers’ abortions.
Keep as many people in for a while. It splits the Establishment vote.
It’s the same liberal talking point I heard here ~2007 with the Giuliani supporters.
