In his post-White House years, Clinton has become a coveted Democratic surrogate. But when it comes to his wife's campaigns, something else can happen: He seems to lose it. It was true in this crucial nominating state in 2008, where Hillary Clinton lost badly to Barack Obama. And it's been true this month, when the former president has reemerged as a potent but unpredictable advocate who sometimes helps his wife's cause - and sometimes doesn't.
For a moment here in Florence over the weekend, it seemed that this crowd of more than 650 would get a glimpse of the Bill Clinton who had broken free of the reins earlier in February, in the closing days of the New Hampshire primary. Then, Clinton had accused Sanders of running a dishonest campaign - and the media of coddling him.
The outburst was widely seen as unhelpful to Hillary Clinton. Clinton campaign aides emphasized that the former president's role was to positively reinforce her message, not be an attack dog. But in an unexpectedly close nominating contest, that has proven a difficult task.
"Bill Clinton is an incomparable genius when it comes to politics - except when it comes to his wife," said former Obama strategist David Axelrod. "It clouds his judgment."

The impeached *Bubba has also stopped talking about how rich he is.
“except when it comes to his wife,” said former Obama strategist David Axelrod. “It clouds his judgment.””
IMHO his judgement was clouded when he married her.
Women love the rascal and seem to hate the Shrillary wife.
“Headaches?” Isn’t that what she usually told Bill?
Women love the rascal and seem to hate the Shrillary wife.
“Some” women still like him.
The old, two heads and only so much blood to supply them, problem.
Bill better have the pillows removed from the house.
Not women - female liberal humans.
“IMHO his judgement was clouded when he married her.”........
And long prior to that for even looking at her. Did you ever see one of her pictures from her “early years”, she was ugly then too, even Clinton’s mother had it correct when she said of Hitlary, “She’s the ugliest woman I have ever seen.” Even his mother got it right back then.
“”Bill better have the pillows removed from the house.””
I thought it was lamps.....
Tomorrow they will find Bill expired in bed with a lamp on his face.
He’s doing it on purpose. Last thing he wants is his wife as president.
In the 90s it was ashtrays - ah, those were the days...
Never knew she had the ability to eat corn on the cob through a picket fence
May they have many more years together.
They're only off by two letters.
Maybe she had some orthodontics done, as I've not seen her look THAT buck-toothed.
Too bad for Chelsea.
She's got the horse-teeth as well, but she's clearly paid to have them at least straightened.
Fugly to the bone.
