On Syria: Thank you, Russia!
The Boston Globe ^ | February 13, 2016 | Stphen Kinzer

Once again, Moscow has shown itself better able to make strategic choices than we are. Russia is not an ideal partner for the United States, but sometimes its interests align with ours. In those cases, we should drop our Cold War hostility and work with Russia. The best place to start is Syria.

American policy toward Syria was misbegotten from the start of the current conflict five years ago. By immediately adopting the hardest possible line—“Assad must go”—we removed any incentive for opposition groups to negotiate for peaceful change. That helped propel Syria into its bloody nightmare.

Russia, which has suffered repeated terror attacks from Islamic fanatics, is threatened by the chaos and ungoverned space that now defines Syria. So are we. Russia’s policy should be ours: prevent the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government, craft a new regime that would include Assad or his supporters, and then work for a cease-fire.

The fall of Assad would create a catastrophic power vacuum like those that have turned Iraq and Libya into terrorist havens. This would be bad for the United States, and even worse for Russia and Iran. We should recognize this common interest, and work with countries that want what we want.

It appears that, even though he is still just a candidate and not the President, Donald Trump’s foreign policy, the Trump Doctrine, is being implemented on the world stage! Consider.

Trump formally announced his candidacy for the presidency in the 2016 election on June 16, 2015.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Trump

He sat down with Bill O’Reilly in June 16, 2015 and said:

“I say that you can defeat ISIS by taking their wealth,” Trump told the Fox News Channel star. “Take back the oil. Once you go over and take back that oil, they have nothing. You bomb the hell out of them, and then you encircle it, and then you go in. And you let Mobil go in, and you let our great oil companies go in. Once you take that oil, they have nothing left.”

The Russian military intervention in the Syrian Civil War began on 30 September 2015, following a formal request by the Syrian government for military help against rebel and jihadist groups.

Around December 17, 2015, Putin offered high praise for the billionaire businessman-turned-Republican presidential front-runner on Thursday during an annual news conference with reporters.

“He is a bright and talented person without any doubt,” Putin said, adding that Trump is “an outstanding and talented personality.”

And in remarks closely mirroring Trump’s assessment of the campaign, the Russian leader called Trump “the absolute leader of the presidential race,” according to the Russian TASS news agency.

Putin doing the work that obama being a member of the mus-scum bro-hood refuses to do! Go after ISIS and their ally Turkey!

The Russians are killing and scattering the barbaric, Sunni jihadist “rebels”. They have given Christians, non Sunni peoples, women and decent secularists in the region real hope. History will show that as the Islamic world went through its painful, violent and chaotic transformation to deal with the values, institutions and practices of modernity, the Russians were on the right side. Sadly the Obama administration will be recorded as having lacked purpose, leadership and an understanding of what was really happening during their tenure.

One of the reason why Trump foreign policy is the best , its better to have a Assad in Syria even if we dont like him because the other option is what?

Giving syria over to the headchoppers in isis ?

Well said. Now that the Russians/SAA have nearly cut the supply lines from our evil “ally” Turkey to the jihadis, Kerry, Merkel et al., are screaming bloody murder and demanding a cease fire to save ISIS, AQ, etc.

Could we for ONCE - NOT have a thread hi-jacked for Trump?

this is a highly crucial synopsis of what people need to understand -

particularly: “The fall of Assad would create a catastrophic power vacuum like those that have turned Iraq and Libya into terrorist havens. “

THAT was and IS the president’s strategy... implemented successfully in Syria, unsuccessfully in Egypt. Building the Caliphate.

Is No one paying attention?

Also Russia & Turkey have fought 17 times, all instigated by Russia, and all won by Russia.

The Caliphate if it comes about will be headed by Turkey not ISIS, or at least that is Estrogen’s plan. Even if he succeeds Russia will crush Turkey and the Caliphate again.

The best thing the United States could do in Syria is stay out of the way and keep the Turks and Saudis on the sidelines. As much as I'd like to see the Russians mop the floor with those two back-stabbing American allies, it would complicate an already complicated situation.

So you want to discuss the problem, and how Obama is a bad person, but you don’t want to talk about the one person who articulated a SOLUTION? And after he articulated a SOLUTION, the Russians under Putin started to implement the SOLUTION, but you want to talk about the problem.

That's a mighty big pair of horse blinders you got on there ---- or. like your idol, you think everyone ELSE is stupid

Putin took TRUMP'S lead after TRUMP came up with the solution...

Pitiful

It makes no sense that the US wants to overturn Assad given the cost. But the uniparty is united, but I repeat myself, to do it.

You WARN me?
“You have been warned. My job is done.”

Shaking in my boots.

You have a a problem with “superiority complex?”

per: “A superiority complex is a psychological defense mechanism in which a person’s feelings of superiority counter or conceal his or her feelings of inferiority.”

Not superior, just a humble watchman. I’ve warned you and have delivered my soul. What you do is up to you, and on your soul. Chose wisely.

Ezekiel 3
16 Now it came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth,
and give them warning from Me:
18 “When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning,
nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life,
that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
19 “Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way,
he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
20 “Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity,
and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die;
because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin,
and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered;
but his blood I will require at your hand.
21 “Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin,
and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning;
also you will have delivered your soul.”
