If the nominee is Srikanth Srinivasan, the Republican senate is going to have a hard time not appointing him after all of the senate, especially his friend Cruz, voted to put him on a lower court.
“Cruz, who clerked with Srinivasan at the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, quipped, “I am hopeful that our friendship will not be seen as a strike against you by some.”

The standards are higher for a Supreme Court justice than a lower court judge. Obviously most Supreme Court appointees have been confirmed as lower judges first, but that didn’t prevent battles from taking place over them.
We want diversity on the Supreme Court! Fifty-three percent of the people in the United States identify themselves as Protestant. Yet, we do not have one Supreme Court Justice who is Protestant. All of the Supreme Court Justices come out of the good ole boy/girl network of the Ivy’s. How about someone closer to the people?
There is not going to be a summer recess.
You must be a Kentuckian if you have confidence in McC.
It's hanging by a thread as it is.
It doesn’t have to be. 9 is not a magic number. In the 1800’s there were more and less Justices at different times. Congress can change the number without a Constitutional amendment.
I used to live in AZ. McCain is a vindictive SOB.
Grassley is in his sixth term in the U.S. Senate, and we can all rest assured that he completely understands the importance of not letting an obama nominee out of his Committee.
obama believes his own press... and no one tells him otherwise. How do you reach this dictator that he cannot do this... he’s done everything else he wanted to do. why stop now. Congress are the ones who should be very afraid of the people .. for once, this makes the difference between peace and war and they’d better be on the right side of it.
None of us trust Mitchie but he’s just got to do the right thing on this!
Then why is he so strongly encouraging Republican Senators not to confirm Obama’s nominee?
I’m hoping that every Senator and Representative that comes up for re election this year is voted out and someone new goes in, and it keeps going like that until the whole lot of them are out of there!!!
These liberals think only of color. It's so important to Ogletree that I've heard when he was first hired at Harvard he used to go around trying to rent apartments to see if he would be rejected so he could bring charges.
Cruz has already come out and said the nominee should not be confirmed, as has Rubio, McConnell, etc..
Those who claim that having a non-conservative Republican is just as bad as having a Democrat are about to have their theory tested.
Allowing Clown Prince Nobama to select a new SC judge will seal the gop Whig status.

If they stiffen their spines it will be for one reason, and one reason only.
Their donors fear that Citizens United will be overturned.
Frankly I expect Obama will beat them into submission by nominating a black female.
I would agree. But if they really do hold firm and stop him...well, there is Exhibit A as to why even a wishy-wachy Republican is better than a Democrat.
If that wasn't the case, I wouldn't be able to vote for Trump in the general election. But as terrible as I think he'd be as President, he still won't be as bad as Hillary or Bernie. At least not when it comes to Supreme Court appointments.
So yeah, I'll vote for the lesser of two evils.
