We're just one week away from the South Carolina primary and tonight the remaining six presidential candidates took the debate stage in Greenville to make a final push. Debate moderator John Dickerson opened the night with a moment of silence dedicated to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who died earlier today after serving for three decades on the high court.
The debate, hosted by CBS News, was certainly the most entertaining of the cycle with candidates repeatedly going after each other with an audience that loudly booed throughout the night.(snip)
2) Trump said Planned Parenthood does "many wonderful things for women's health" while trying at the same time to dismiss abortion. Keep in mind Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards makes this same argument in order to keep $500 million in taxpayer funding each year. The abortion giant repeatedly claims it only uses taxpayer money for women's health, not for abortion, ignoring the fact that money is fungible. Trump made that argument for Planned Parenthood tonight from the Republican, pro-life debate stage. There's also this:

Trump has been defending his pro-Kelo opinion by purposely confusing private-use eminent domain with public-use eminent domain.
I am not a single issue voter and was willing to ignore this very important topic. But after the debate, and this admission makes me very nervous about Trump.
Trump’s support of PP with the excuse that it does a lot of good for “woman’s health” is simply ignorant.
Two big strikes.
>> Thatâs a line of argument my leftist acquaintances would make <<
Applies increasingly to Trump’s own comments. But does it matter to members of his cult following? Apparently not.
BTTT!
>> Who Else Has Received Loans from Citibank and Goldman Sachs? Donald Trump <<
Sure, but doncha know that it’s OK when Dear Leader Trump does it? Everything he has done in business is a reflection of his overwhelming brilliance and his perfection. He can do no wrong. Nothing to see here. Move along.
That you don’t understand he made a smart division between abortion and preemptive tests for genuine women’s health issues speaks poorly about your comprehension of framing issues.
I suppose you think Todd Aiken was right.......
No, I understand very clearly what he said. Here's what you don't understand:
PP says it currently uses no government funding for abortions.
Trump thinks there is a "good" part of PP and a "bad" part. That is a ridiculous claim. The entire organization is run by radical left wingers.
PP is a taxpayer-funded branch of the Democrat Party. They actively work to remove Republicans, conservatives in particular, from office.
PP is not the only game in town. Why does Trump offer us the false choice of Planned Parenthood or nothing? Why does he claim that without PP women won't be able to get health care? That line is right out of the Democrat playbook, which is what we would expect from the NYC elitist.
When Trump re-starts shilling for the Left, it's time to check your assumptions about the man. He's not making a "smart division". He's just revealing who he really is.
There was a day when this post (yes, I know it is Donald Trump's statement) would garner an immediate zot on this website.
Do not persist in your unbelief.
Exposing the Planned Parenthood business model
Former Planned Parenthood Director: I Was Told Doing an Abortion Was Like "Playing a Video Game"
Even the WACOMPOST called them out on their lies about "women's health" ....
I think it's called straining at gnats.
Good day sir, rant away, it's what you do (poorly).
Yes, it's so convincing.......
Is Planned Parenthood a taxpayer funded arm of the Democrat Party or isn’t it?
Why would Trump want to fund even the “good” part of it?
I understand these are hard questions to answer, which is why Trump supporters always want to end the debate when the going gets tough.
Seeking out your “safe space” where trigger words are prohibited. I get it.
I can't read Trump's mind. Neither can the writer.
I have observed that if someone wanted to shut down PP, this is a tactically brilliant path. As the true believers have shown repeatedly, any path morally acceptable to them is politically stupid and therefore impotent.
The problem with funding PP is that there is no way to assure that the funds won’t be used for abortion. Taxpayers should not have to fund abortion.
The other health services that women need can be supplied through other health agencies that do not murder the unborn.
The full quote doesn’t make it any better. Praising PP for doing good things for women while condemning its abortions performed is like praising Stalin for making the trains run on time while ignoring the millions killed. Or, it is like praising Putin for fighting terror while ignoring the innocent people he has killed in his own country or praising Kim Jong Un for being a strong leader while ignoring the horrors of North Korea.
Planned Parenthood doesn’t just perform abortions, a horrifying enough crime. They sell baby body parts. They willingly cover up for human trafficking. No amount of good they do can outweigh that. They could cure cancer and it wouldn’t be enough.
If Trump had wanted to win on this question it would’ve been easy. All he would have to do is say he’d defund PP and any other agency that performs abortions and give the same amount of federal funding (or if he wants to be slick, greater federal funding) to women’s health organizations and agencies that do everything BUT abortions.
