Obama has always had a lot of subtle ways to disrespect Americans. This is just one of them.
There is another reason Obama almost never wears a tie. Namely, ties evolved from the tabard Crusaders wore. In other words, ties are seen as a Christian symbol in Islam. Now, lots of Muslims ignore that and wear ties, but many don’t.

And was classless to say he’s going to nominate a replacement, in my opinion. The cable news chatter all day yesterday discussed whether the GOP would confirm any Obama nominee, or leave the Supreme Court vacancy till after the next election.
And it seemed to me that Obama was playing into that narrative by saying that he would nominate someone. What was left unsaid was that it will provoke a huge nomination confirmation battle in the Senate.
If the GOP wants to fight such a battle that is.
