(Via CBS) The six remaining major GOP presidential candidates have all qualified for CBS News’ Republican debate in South Carolina on Saturday night, the network announced Friday.
Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson and John Kasich have been invited to participate in the debate at the Peace Center in Greenville.
Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, who had only previously participated in undercard debates, did not qualify for the main stage, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina dropped out of the 2016 race earlier this week.
Face the Nation anchor and CBS News political director John Dickerson will be the debate’s main moderator and will be joined by CBS News White House correspondent Major Garrett and The [Rupert Murdoch influenced] Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel.
The debate will air live on CBS from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on Saturday. (read more)
JediJones is a CanuckTed hack. He knows all CanuckTed is doing is stealing votes away from Carson to possibly keep his total under CanuckTed’s. JediJones knows CanuckTed can’t win in an honest race, can’t get over 20%, and needs spoiler candidates like Carson to skew the vote for him.
:-)
I love it. Thanks......so true.
Trump does not do a press release every time he does something kind for someone. That is what politicians do!
Welcome, Resettozero!
Glad to have you!
I was working at my local Republican Headquarters today......and Trump ‘s team had sent in 50 signs.....
I assembled them, and a couple came in and took 14, and told me where they live ( a large retirement community) and said there were Trump signs all over!......they were enthusiastic for him.
Other folks called, wanting to pick up Trump signs
Tomorrow I will be helping at Trump Headquarters specifically!and I’m really looking forward!......the pace is picking up.
This afternoon I was out shopping and saw a dad helping his wounded son sit while the dad grabbed a few things
Something compelled me to sit down next to him and ask if he was a Vet
He said yes.....and kindly told me his story
He was hit in 2005.....IED.....in Iraq......has had 36 operations
He lost his right arm and leg...an ear, his left thumb, and a brain injury
Other than compassion, what propelled me over to sit next to him?
It was Trump’s televised fundraiser with the Vet who said loud and poignantly clear...
Please tell a Vet thank-you
I said Thank-you fom my heart......and the tears came
His father walked up and got tears
Trump has described over and over what our Vets face and pays homage to them
This young man is terribly injured.....but he has a great spirit.....a great unbroken spirit
He had just returned from speaking at a school assembly encouraging kids to stay stong and not let anything or anyone in life keep them from pursuing their goals.
I told him I was humbled by his story.......and what he was doing was powerfully important, needful to these children
After I left I thought .....WHY didn’t I think to pray with him....or offer to buy him and his dad lunch!
I’m so sorry I lost this opportunity.
That’s one of the things I like about him. For all his bluster, he also has a down to earth humbleness about veterans, police, and first responders that is endearing.
s you wish ;) He is gone.
No, just thought they should have given him one chance... Can’t get good polls without exposure, cannot get exposure without good poll numbers...
Eleven down, five to go.
He is counting on the large black population to push him up a few pegs.
Did Gilmore drop out? Just when he was surging?
