by sundance
Posted on by

(Via CBS) The six remaining major GOP presidential candidates have all qualified for CBS News’ Republican debate in South Carolina on Saturday night, the network announced Friday.

cbs debate format

Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson and John Kasich have been invited to participate in the debate at the Peace Center in Greenville.

Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, who had only previously participated in undercard debates, did not qualify for the main stage, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina dropped out of the 2016 race earlier this week.

Face the Nation anchor and CBS News political director John Dickerson will be the debate’s main moderator and will be joined by CBS News White House correspondent Major Garrett and The [Rupert Murdoch influenced] Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel.

The debate will air live on CBS from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on Saturday. (read more)

He’s back from doing his laundry and has a suitcase full of clothing changes.

Instead of another debate, let’s just vote already.

My bet is Trump will go after Cruz and Bush, then Kasich will go after Bush... Then with Bush standing between them Trump and Kasich will pummel Bush

When I look at each opponent to Trump, I can’t see any of the five making much headway.

I agree.

I wish Trump would do Veterans Rallys on every debate night from now on. Tell the networks to stick it.

I’ve watched parts of one debate.

It was parts of one debate too many.

This whole media circus makes me sick ...

Enter the miracle of the remote control. Do not turn on the mediot circus. If you accidentally turn it on, turn it off.

Isn’t the off button the most marvelous invention? I’m also partial to the mute and channel change buttons.

Refusing to go to his lynching party controlled by Faux and Mgyn did not hurt him!

Also, everyone seems to "forget" the mocking tweets put out by Fox that made it impossible for him to participate.

I made a commitment to watch every Sanders/Clinton debate — AND THE POST DEBATE COMMENTARY ON MSNBC — just so I can remind myself why I should even vote for the republican party.

Every one of the candidates — on both sides — are a joke.

Why is a traditional constitutional conservative like Cruz a joke?

Jim Gilmore suspends his 2016 GOP presidential campaign

The week after the Iowa Caucus on Feb. 1, Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore on Friday
announced he would suspend his presidential campaign.

“My campaign was intended to offer the gubernatorial experience, with the track record
of a true conservative, experienced in national security, to unite the party,” Gilmore said in a press release, according to the Huffington Post.
Gilmore received just 12 votes in Iowa among caucus voters.
