(Via CBS) The six remaining major GOP presidential candidates have all qualified for CBS News’ Republican debate in South Carolina on Saturday night, the network announced Friday.
Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson and John Kasich have been invited to participate in the debate at the Peace Center in Greenville.
Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, who had only previously participated in undercard debates, did not qualify for the main stage, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina dropped out of the 2016 race earlier this week.
Face the Nation anchor and CBS News political director John Dickerson will be the debate’s main moderator and will be joined by CBS News White House correspondent Major Garrett and The [Rupert Murdoch influenced] Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel.
The debate will air live on CBS from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on Saturday. (read more)

Why not? He is still in and has around 10 percent of the vote in South Carolina. I am hoping he rises to around 20 percent. He is doing a service to America by staying in. Thank you Dr. Carson for your selfless service to our country.
They should drop Gilmore period. He gets 0 numbers. Why is he still in the race?

Carson got only 2% of the vote in New Hampshire, is doing poorly in the South Carolina polls and isn't even campaigning hard, taking numerous days off. He's not a serious candidate and has no good reason to be included in the debate.
I’ve read that Dickerson is an extreme lefty. Garrett used to be with FNC and the woman is a Murdock protege.

Isn’t Dickerson the one who opened the 2012 debate by asking Newt Gingrich right out of the gate IF he had asked his ex-wife for an Open Marriage and Newt proceeded to rip him to shreds . . . well deserved shreds.

Did I miss something? What service has he provided? What issue has he raised that no other candidate has raised?
From what I can tell, all he's done is spend more time fundraising (both personal and political), than campaigning.
He hasn't taught anyone how to be fiscally responsible. He mismanaged and wasted all the money people threw at him.
He's just doing it for the $400k a year and the bennies/perks. He'll fold like a cheap tent within 10 days.
I just wish he’d go away, flat-footed or tippy-toed, I do not care. LOL
