Now that Donald Trump has won the New Hampshire primary and proved himself as a legitimate threat to win the Republican nomination, it's time to take a serious look at his policy proposals. When it comes to health care, Trump hasn't had much to say of substance, but the policy pronouncements we have gotten from him are a mix of socialism and incoherence.

A little of the former and a lot of the latter.
This is a lie Trump just speaking with Hannity last night in favor of health savings accounts, and purchasing across state lines PLEASE get your facts straight!!!!
Oh come on.
I can find a Cruz quote saying we should take care of indigents.
I remember him saying it. I think in the last debate.
Without Trumpcare, Anytown, USA will soon look like the streets of Calcutta. *shudder*
You folks DONT seem to realize that you can BARK all you want, Trump supporters are as LOYAL as they come!!! He IS our guy and WE will live with that decision if you support Cruz that is fine, however frankly I am SICK TO DEATH of listening to ALL of your garbage about Trump!!!!
Bingo! You win the prize!
As one who spent 25 years providing emergency medical care in the community... you have got it. The ones who can't care for themselves get it paid for by the rest of us regardless. Obamacare didn't change a thing other than costing billions and billions of dollars wasted in needless bureaucracy. No one is refused emergency medical treatment in this country, this was true before Obamacare and is now true after Obamacare. One of our “customers”, an alcoholic drug abuser ran up over $2,000,000 in ambulance and medical bills over a ten year period. Who do you think paid for this... the rest of us... the losses just get passed along to the paying customers. Getting the government involved just ads more expense and red tape.
One thing Obamacare has accomplished is making the entitled class feel more entitled. They are now clogging the emergency rooms and doctors offices across the country more than ever before. Are they healthier... NO, happier... NO, they are just emboldened and more nasty now and more demanding. I know a lot of doctors and nurses including my own who say hey are fed up and either going to retire, quit, or go into another field. Thank you Obamacare.
Here it is from the last debate:
LAST DEBATE
HAM: In the Democratic primary, Hillary Clinton has criticized Bernie Sandersâ plan for single payer government health care, noting it would require big, across the board tax increases for Americans. In doing so, sheâs doubling down on Obamacare, despite its persistent unpopularity.
Mr. Trump, you have said you want to appeal Obamacare. You have also said, quote, âEverybodyâs got to be covered,â adding, quote, âThe governmentâs going to pay for it.â Are you closer to Bernie Sandersâ vision for health care than Hillary Clintonâs?
TRUMP: I donât think I am. I think Iâm closer to common sense. We are going to repeal Obamacare.
(APPLAUSE)
TRUMP: Weâre going to repeal Obamacare. We are going to replace Obamacare with something so much better. And there are so many examples of it. And I will tell you, part of the reason we have some people laughing, because you have insurance people that take care of everybody up here.
I am self-funded. The only one theyâre not taking care of is me. We have our lines around each state. The insurance companies are getting rich on Obamacare. The insurance companies are getting rich on health care and health services and everything having to do with health. We are going to end that.
Weâre going to take out the artificial boundaries, the artificial lines. Weâre going to get a plan where people compete, free enterprise. They compete. So much better.
(APPLAUSE)
TRUMP: In addition to that, you have the health care savings plans, which are excellent. What I do say is, there will be a certain number of people that will be on the street dying and as a Republican, I donât want that to happen. Weâre going to take care of people that are dying on the street because there will be a group of people that are not going to be able to even think in terms of private or anything else and weâre going to take care of those people. And I think everybody on this stage would have to agree...
(BELL RINGS)
... youâre not going to let people die, sitting in the middle of a street in any city in this country.
We DO take care of indigents now, and have done so for decades. Trump’s statement made it sound like he thinks that market-based medical care is a cruel idea. Only socialism works, according to the Donald’s thinking.
D E S P E R A T I O N - its what you smell if your wish for an incoherent tyrant is granted by the stupid public
The nice thing about”gibberish”, which Trump has mastered, is that everyone can interpret it as they wish. Just like what Chairman Maobama did in 2008.
+1
I disagree about how it sounds. It sounds practical.
For us: buy our own across state lines and available health savings accounts.
For the indigent: government pays and quit hiding it in increased costs for the rest of us.
That actually comes from Trump, although I knew it before that, of course. Everyone does.
I imagine some kind of health card with some kind of floating co-pay and floating deductible for the indigent.
Yes you do - Trumpeters are notoriously thick-headed, and the more you try to make your point, the nastier they become. You’d, or at least I would, imagine that if DJT is all they believe, then they’d be kind and gracious, but they are not (for the most part) - which leaves me thinking they are the true reflection of their hero, and if they get their wish will be the first to scream.
You simply dont understand, PIF. Trump is exactly the blank slate that we need to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Don’t you forget it.
he saved the what? Never mind ... always love it when people buy into an ‘all things to all people or idea’. They always look so funny when things turn out the opposite of what they expected.
Then why does Trump say that socialized medicine works very well in Canada and other countries, if he doesn’t believe in socialized medicine?
When he gets done rasing taxes to pay for trumpedupcare as he promised, anytown usa will be calcutta.
He said that it did back then when he first mentioned it years ago. He thought it would work in the US back then.
BAIER: Now, 15 years ago, uncalled yourself a liberal on health care. You were for a single-payer system, a Canadian-style system. Why were you for that then and why arenât you for it now?
TRUMP: As far as single payer, it works in Canada. It works incredibly well in Scotland. It could have worked in a different age, which is the age youâre talking about here.
